"Tentacruel attack the ground with all your tentacles," Raj commanded calmly.
"What are you trying to do my Donphan's Earthquake has already cracked the ground and now you are making Tentacruel strike the ground too the battlefield will collapse which is extremely disadvantageous for your Tentacruel how foolish," Xiao Zhen mocked loudly.
"I think you are the foolish one Tentacruel use Surf," Raj replied with a faint smile.
Tentacruel immediately dropped into the large pit it had just created and in an instant filled the entire area with water transforming the rocky battlefield into a combined Rock and Water battlefield.
"You you actually changed the battlefield that's a foul," Xiao Zhen shouted angrily.
"As long as there is no malicious interference changing the battlefield using a Pokémon's ability is not a foul and there is no rule prohibiting it," Apollo said coldly.
"It is too late to panic now Tentacruel use Surf again," Raj ordered.
Tentacruel waved its tentacles and released another massive wave.
Donphan was swept directly out of the battlefield and lost its ability to continue fighting.
During this journey with Ash and the others Raj had never neglected his Pokémon's training.
What made his training different was that he deliberately strengthened each Pokémon's weakest aspect so that none of them had obvious weaknesses.
For example Tentacruel and Gyarados both had large bodies that normally reduced their agility so Raj specifically trained their speed.
That was why earlier the spectators had only seen Tentacruel wave its tentacles once before Donphan was instantly swept away by the massive wave.
After the attack the water slowly flowed back toward Tentacruel's side giving it a calm and powerful presence similar to Raj himself.
With a loud crash Donphan struck the opposite wall and collapsed with spiral eyes.
"In the first round Tentacruel wins Xiao Zhen please send out your second Pokémon," Apollo announced coldly.
Xiao Zhen finally regained her senses.
"How is this possible not only can you change the battlefield but your Tentacruel's attack speed is also so fast how can Tentacruel move like that," Xiao Zhen said in disbelief.
She was not the only one shocked.
The audience below the arena also stared in silence as their caution toward Raj increased greatly.
This unknown newcomer clearly possessed extraordinary strength.
He had already become a serious contender for first place.
Apollo watched from above with interest.
"There is a familiar presence in this child's momentum," he thought quietly. "If he wins first place bringing him under Giovanni's command would be very beneficial."
Apollo still did not know Raj's true identity.
If he did he might have chosen a very different reaction.
"I will not lose to you just because of speed go Scyther," Xiao Zhen shouted angrily.
Scyther appeared instantly with its sharp blades raised.
"Scyther Bug and Flying type Pokémon known for its extremely high speed and scythe-like forearms capable of cutting through tall grass faster than the eye can follow," Raj read calmly from his Pokédex scan.
Combat Power 900.
Known moves Air Slash Slash Swords Dance Fury Cutter X-Scissor Agility Quick Attack.
"It is nothing special not very strong," Raj said casually.
"You dare underestimate me you will regret this Scyther use Agility then Quick Attack," Xiao Zhen shouted.
Scyther rushed forward at a speed almost impossible to see and struck Tentacruel instantly.
"Tentacruel are you alright," Raj asked but after seeing Tentacruel's steady gaze he relaxed again.
"Jump into the water," Raj ordered.
Tentacruel immediately moved deeper into the water to avoid surprise attacks.
"Scyther use Swords Dance then X-Scissor," Xiao Zhen commanded.
"Tentacruel use Iron Defense then Slam," Raj responded.
Although Scyther was famous for its speed Tentacruel's tentacles still matched its movements perfectly which clearly frustrated Xiao Zhen.
The two Pokémon clashed repeatedly and the spectators gradually became excited as loud impacts echoed across the battlefield.
After a powerful collision both Pokémon separated through drifting smoke.
Scyther stood on the ground breathing heavily while Tentacruel floated calmly in the water with only slight fatigue.
The difference in condition between them was already obvious.
"You want me to surrender impossible Scyther use Double Team then continuous Swords Dance and finish with Fury Cutter," Xiao Zhen shouted.
Raj narrowed his eyes slightly.
Fury Cutter increases its power with each successful hit so he could not allow Scyther to build momentum.
"Tentacruel use Reflect," Raj ordered.
Scyther created multiple afterimages and attacked from all directions.
Tentacruel calmly raised layers of Reflect barriers that blocked each strike while Scyther's stamina steadily decreased.
"Alright that is enough Tentacruel let's finish this surround it with Reflect," Raj said as he clapped once.
Tentacruel's eyes glowed blue as multiple light barriers formed around Scyther and sealed its movement.
"You rely on speed but now your movement is sealed let's see how you continue Tentacruel finish it with Acid," Raj commanded.
A loud explosion echoed across the battlefield.
When the smoke cleared Scyther collapsed with spiral eyes and lost its ability to battle.
