Celadon City was a very prosperous place filled with department stores and electric amusement parks. It was the perfect city for relaxing and sightseeing.
However, as soon as Raj and his companions entered the city, they noticed a very fragrant scent in the air. Raj, Brock, and Misty instinctively followed the smell, and even Pikachu joined them in searching for its source.
Following the scent, they arrived outside a shop and looked inside through the display window.
"I think I've already fallen in love with this city," Brock said with a dreamy expression.
Raj looked inside and saw that the shop was filled with elegant young women wearing fashionable clothes. It was exactly Brock's type, so it was no surprise he looked completely captivated.
"I really want to stay in this city forever," Brock said as he pressed his face against the glass with a silly smile.
"Brock don't go too far. Come on Misty Pikachu," Ash said as he turned around, only to realize they were gone.
At that moment, Raj tapped Ash's shoulder and pointed inside the shop.
Misty, Pikachu, and Haunter had already entered.
The shop assistants were introducing different kinds of perfume.
"This floral perfume suits you very well. Try it," one of them said as she sprayed some onto Misty's wrist.
Misty smelled it and smiled.
"Oh it's wonderful. Such a lovely scent."
Even Pikachu and Haunter looked pleased.
"I can give you a small discount on this one," the shop assistant said warmly.
"In that case I'll buy a bottle," Misty said as she reached for her wallet.
"Forget it Misty. Wearing perfume is meaningless for you. Don't buy it," Ash suddenly said as he rushed inside.
"What are you talking about?" Misty asked speechlessly.
"Maybe Ash thinks that even if you wear perfume it won't improve your charm," Raj added as he covered his mouth.
"Gentlemen what you're saying is wrong," a woman wearing a traditional outfit said as she stepped forward angrily.
"Manager," the shop assistants greeted respectfully.
"What exactly did you mean by meaningless? That sounds extremely rude," the Manager said sharply.
"Perfume is just something women use to attract men. That's what I meant," Ash replied.
"Look," Ash said as he pulled the dazed Brock forward.
"And besides that strong perfume scents can cause trouble for some people," Raj added as he frowned slightly.
"Hello," Brock said with a foolish smile.
The Manager smiled briefly at Brock, then looked angrily at Ash and Raj.
"Listen carefully. Perfume has many important uses."
"It can relax people calm emotions refresh the mind and even comfort the soul. It has many benefits."
"Exactly."
"That's right."
"Pika."
"Haunter."
"I don't need something like that because I'm always full of energy. Raj is the same right?" Ash said confidently.
"Huh I just don't personally like perfume. It feels strange to me," Raj replied honestly.
"Aside from that you don't seem to have many other strengths either," Misty said teasingly as she looked at Ash.
"But I didn't expect you not to like perfume either Raj," Misty added as she shook her head.
"People who cannot understand the value of perfume are not welcome to stay here," the Manager said angrily.
"You two are really insensitive."
"No woman will like boys like you," the shop assistants added angrily.
"It means get out."
The shop assistants immediately chased Raj and Ash out of the store.
"Fine if we have to leave then we'll leave. At worst Raj and I will challenge the Celadon City Gym first," Ash said stubbornly.
"Alright don't be angry. Let's go challenge the Gym first Ash," Raj said as he rubbed his forehead helplessly.
Soon they arrived in front of the Gym.
"Huh why can't we go inside to challenge?" Ash asked angrily after being stopped at the entrance.
"Didn't you just say in our shop that perfume was meaningless?" the leading young woman said as she crossed her arms.
"Boys who don't understand the meaning of perfume are not qualified to enter our Gym."
"Huh why is that? Is there really no chance at all?" Raj asked with a helpless expression.
"It's simple because those perfumes are produced here."
"So goodbye," the young woman said as she shut the Gym door.
"Please wait a moment. We came all this way specifically to challenge the Gym Leader. Please let us in," Ash said as he knocked urgently on the door.
"No," the young woman replied firmly.
Behind them, Team Rocket quietly carried a ladder toward a nearby Gym window and began climbing.
"If we can steal the legendary perfume hidden inside this Gym all the men in the world will fall for me," Jessie said excitedly.
"If we sell those perfumes we'll make a fortune and I can repay all the money I owe the Boss," James said happily.
"Then I'll finally get delicious cat food to eat meow," Meowth added.
"The perfume should be hidden somewhere in this room," Jessie said as they began searching.
Suddenly Jessie was startled by a Gloom that appeared in front of her.
"It's a Gloom meow," Meowth shouted.
"Is it asleep?" James asked as he waved his hand in front of it.
Suddenly Gloom opened its eyes.
"It looks like we woke it up," Jessie said nervously.
"Go Koffing use Poison Gas."
Gloom opened its mouth and inhaled all the Poison Gas before smiling at Team Rocket.
"I can't believe this," Team Rocket said as they huddled together nervously.
Suddenly Gloom released a cloud of brown smoke from the flower on its head.
Koffing collapsed immediately after smelling it.
"What is that smell?" Jessie said as she covered her nose.
"It smells like socks that haven't been washed for a year," James said with a twisted expression.
"And it also smells like natto stinky tofu and garlic," Meowth added.
Moments later Team Rocket collapsed unconscious.
"Our Gym absolutely forbids thieves from entering."
