Chapter 23 - Crushing jaws and breaking faces? All in a day's work

"Open the door. I won't ask twice." I said, my voice cold and grey, my palms tightly grasping the cold steel bar of the gate.

Through the bars of the gate, the man's face came into view. He wore a hardened expression, stained by a scar that ran diagonally from his left eye down to his cheek.

The man's eyebrows knitted as he heard my words, and an enraging sneer divided his lips.

I tightened my jaw.

"Oh yeah?" He asked, bringing his face closer to the gate, and the faint moonlight poured directly on his dull, dark eyes that pierced into mine. "What are you gonna do about it?"

I slowly unclenched the metal bar, still gazing at him with calm eyes that betrayed the quietly sizzling fury.

"Hey, open the gate." Marcus snapped, his voice coated with annoyance as he walked closer. "We were just in there." He lied, "We came out to get some fre–"

"You were." The guard spouted. "Not anymore." At this point, his voice dropped annoyingly low. "What part of 'we're full' do you both not understand? You wouldn't want to attract the wrath of the boss, so I suggest you just lea–"

Fucking lackey.

I stretched my hand through the bars of the gate, my palm finding the man's face.

Slap–!

His eyes widened. "W–what?!"

Immediately my palm hit his face, my fingers wrapped around his cheeks, squeezing his cheekbones.

And before he could utter any more words…

"Urgh!"

…I drew him closer, his forehead pressing against the steel bar as I bulged my biceps, lifting him off the ground.

I brought my face closer to his.

He struggled to breathe properly, desperately clenching and hitting my arm in an effort to loosen my grip.

Drool dripped down from his clenched teeth as he exhaled. "Put... put me down!"

I clenched his cheekbones tighter, aggressively pressing his forehead against the bars.

"You asked me what I'm going to do about it, didn't you?" I said, my words dripping with cold, grey venom.

The guard began to shiver in my arm, pupils shrinking as our eyes locked.

"Well," I clenched his cheekbones tighter, my fingers digging into his flesh.

A small crunch sound echoed.

"Nnng!!!" He grunted.

"I'll destroy your face." I completed.

"W–wait..! Nnng!" The guard kept struggling and wriggling under my grip as his legs swayed wildly in the air, a few inches apart from the ground.

A warm palm tapped my shoulder.

I frowned, turning my neck to look back at Marcus.

Marcus shook his head slightly as he calmly gripped my shoulder.

My frown deepened.

"What?" I asked, the venom in my voice still swimming. "What is it?"

"Calm down, Dustin. I think you're slightly irritated." Marcus calmly spoke.

I raised a brow.

Calm down?

Calm. Down?

I lowered my brow, letting out a small sigh.

"I just want to rest," I said, my voice regaining its color.

Marcus nodded. "I know."

"And he's getting in the way," I said.

Marcus nodded. "I know."

A vein popped on my forehead. "If you know, then tell him to open the fucking gate!"

Marcus's lips stretched into a warm smile as he nodded once more. "First, take your hands off him," He said, "The guy's bleeding."

I looked at the guard.

As a result of my nails digging into the skin of his face, blood trailed down. His open lips had blood smeared all over them, mixing with the frothing drool.

The top left corner of my lips curled up in irritation.

Disgusting.

I looked at Marcus again.

"No," I said as I turned to look at the guard once more. "Do you want to open the gate now..." I clenched more, he flinched, "or do you want me to break your jaw and cheekbones?"

Marcus let out a resigned sigh behind me. "Just open the gate, man."

My nostrils flared, my chest rising and falling as I breathed in the guard's face.

He remained silent for a while. His pupils just kept trembling, and his lips quivered.

Finally, he bit his lips, then uttered through clenched teeth, "I... I'll open the gate."

I inclined my head. "Good."

"Now.. nng.. let me.. go!"

I immediately let go of him, and he fell to his knees, coughing profusely.

I turned to look at Marcus, a calm smirk on my lips. "You were saying?"

Marcus didn't reply; he just closed his eyes and smiled, slowly shaking his head.

And as he opened his eyes, his smile faded, and his eyes widened as his lips parted. "Hey!"

My smirk faded, and I turned to glance at the kneeling gua–

What?

The man wasn't on his knees; he ran — albeit shakily — into the station, yelling. "Boss! Boss!!"

"Yeah, that turned out well," Marcus said.

I gritted my teeth, clenching my fists as I grabbed onto the bars of the gate with both my palms, clenching them.

"That fucker." I muttered.

Wasting no more time, I dragged the gate, steadily shaking it as I bulged my biceps.

I felt it loosening from under. But it was too slow.

Fuck that.

I abandoned the idea of uprooting the whole gate, and I grabbed onto two bars, entering an engaged stance as I lowered my waist.

"What the–?" Marcus exclaimed.

I bent the bars. It wasn't too strong, and it was less straining than uprooting the entire gate.

After bending the bars, I looked at Marcus, who stood there, stunned, his mouth slightly open.

"I.. uh.. I knew you were strong, but–"

I furrowed my brows. "You gonna keep standing there or what?"

He shook his head, erasing the momentary stun. "Right."

From the opening created by the bent bars, I stepped in.

Hm?

I narrowed my eyes.

The air felt heavy and stale, hitting against my bare skin and boiling it.

It felt rather unpleasant, coupled with the fact that I couldn't breathe properly. I had to scrunch my nose. The odor in here was utterly displeasing, and I honestly didn't even feel like describing it.

Whatever was the source of the odor, I didn't want to know.

Nevertheless, I shook my head and walked in.

"Smells like shit in here," Marcus said, following behind me.

Ugh. I don't want to know what it smells like.

"Yeah, no kidding," I replied.

No wonder he ran away from here.

'Fresh air,' my ass.

As soon as I made my way in, I nodded.
