Dax did not take the vial Rory offered him.
Instead, he reached into his own storage band and withdrew several sleek vials filled with pale green liquid. One by one, he placed them into Rory's hands, the soft clink of glass sounding almost unreal in the tense clearing.
"Use these instead," he said almost casually. "They taste better."
Before Rory could even respond, Dax took the red vial she had been holding, uncorked it, and tossed it aside without hesitation. He showed no concern that she might question where such high-grade supplies had come from. At worst, he would simply admit that he had spent the star coins he had tricked out of Jasper. That thought didn't trouble him in the slightest.
Rory stared down at the cluster of pale green vials now resting in her palms, her mind momentarily blank.
Am I dreaming?
Dax is actually giving me supplies instead of taking from me and complaining afterward?
