Chapter 53 - Transferring IP

Monday, October 12th.

[Infinite Money System]

[Total System Balance: ¥2,740.00]

[Available System Balance: ¥2,740.00]

[Personal Balance: ¥31,266.00]

Lin Feng looked at the balance.

The money had really started spiraling. It had increased by almost ten thousand in just the past three days.

He really was going to miss this teaching job after the double reduction policy passed. For now though, he needed to take full advantage of it.

He closed the system and glanced beside him where Zhang Wei sat.

"Zhang Wei," he said, getting his attention. "There's something I wanted to talk to you about."

He opened his laptop and pulled up a few documents.

"I was doing some research," Lin Feng began, "and I realized there might be some issues with registering the app as your investment to the company."

Zhang Wei's expression shifted with concern.

Lin Feng raised a hand to calm him.

"It's not something to worry about. It's still possible since the other shareholders and I agree that your app is of equivalent value to our shares." He paused. "The problem is just the wording."

He turned the laptop slightly so Zhang Wei could see.

"First, you'll have to ensure that the app is yours and solely yours. That means no contradictions with any open source licenses you might've used." He scrolled through one of the documents. "After ensuring this, we'll have an agreement between you and the business we're making whereby you transfer the IP to the business in exchange for 25% shares."

He closed the laptop and slid it into his bag.

"There are some other things, but I don't understand them much myself. I'll send them to you." He stood up. "I'm sure you'll figure it out."

Zhang Wei nodded. "I understand."

Lin Feng grabbed his bag. "It's time for my class. Catch you later."

With that, he left.

The classroom door opened and Liu Mei walked in.

The chatter died down almost instantly as students straightened in their seats.

Su Yue leaned closer to Lin Feng, her voice dropping to a whisper.

"Did you hear? Apparently, that guy we delivered the applications to back then…he drugged the teacher. She's filing a lawsuit against him now."

"Is that so?" Lin Feng asked quietly.

News really spreads fast, he thought.

His gaze drifted to the front of the room. Liu Mei stood at the podium, arranging her materials. She seemed alright.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

...

"Good morning, everyone," Liu Mei greeted with a warm smile. "The holiday is officially over. How was your Golden Week? Did anyone do anything interesting?"

A few students raised their hands, sharing brief stories about their break.

Liu Mei nodded along, her expression pleasant.

"That's wonderful to hear. But now that we're back, I hope you won't slack off." Her tone shifted slightly. "Your midterm examinations will be starting this month."

A collective groan rippled through the classroom.

One student raised his hand. "Teacher, do we have a specific date?"

Liu Mei held her chin in thought.

"I'm not exactly sure, but probably around the 26th." She nodded to herself. "I'll confirm and have the class monitor bring you a timetable early."

More questions followed - about the exam format, which subjects would be tested first, whether there would be any review sessions.

Liu Mei answered each one patiently.

Finally, she clasped her hands together.

"Thats enough about the exams. Do you have any other questions?"

A girl in the middle row raised her hand.

Liu Mei pointed to her. "Yes?"

The girl hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Is it true that the teacher is suing the head of the incubator program?"

The room went silent.

Every head turned toward the front.

Whispers began spreading around the room.

"The teacher should totally sue him…"

"He's so creepy…"

"I heard he…"

Liu Mei placed a finger to her lips, a gentle smile on her face.

"This is a matter between adults," she said calmly. "Students should not concern themselves with such things."

Before anyone could press further, the bell rang.

Liu Mei gathered her materials and made her way toward the door.

Lin Feng watched her leave from his seat, his expression unreadable.

...

Liu Mei walked down the corridor, her heels clicking against the floor.

Students passed by, some glancing at her with curious eyes, others whispering to their friends.

She kept her gaze forward and continued walking.

Eventually, she reached the main office and pushed through the door.

Every head in the room turned to look at her.

She ignored them and walked straight to her desk, settling into her chair.

"Is that her?"

"I heard she..."

"Eeh, really?"

The whispers floated around her, not quite low enough to escape her ears.

She let out a quiet sigh and turned to her work, tuning them out.

Two hours passed quickly.

Her phone lit up on the desk.

She picked it up and read the message.

Her expression brightened almost instantly.

She grabbed her things and hurried out of the office.

...

At the campus gate, Lin Feng stood waiting.

He noticed Liu Mei walking toward him - no, practically jogging.

He observed her as she drew closer.

"You seem out of breath," he said. "Did you run?"

"What out of breath?" She waved a hand dismissively, still catching her breath. "What did you want to talk to me about?"

Lin Feng smiled slightly.

"There's no need to be in such a hurry. How about we talk about it over lunch?" He tilted his head. "Or is now a bad time?"

"No, not a bad time at all," she said quickly, shaking her hands.

"Alright then."

He turned and began walking. She hurried to fall into step beside him.

After a moment of silence, Liu Mei spoke up.

"It's surprising that you invited me."

"Really?" he asked.

She nodded. "Earlier, you were so cautious about coming to my place because of how it would look to others." She glanced at him. "Don't you care anymore?"

Lin Feng shrugged.

"Well, the two of us are now involved in a case together," he explained. "So it's not weird for us to be seen together."

"Oh." Liu Mei blinked. "That makes sense."
