The sun had just begun its descent from the summit, its rays spilling soft gold light across the yard. The air was cool, touched by the scent of blooming flowers in the surroundings.
The trio began working together, led by Ashrik. They started by getting all the necessary ingredients for tonight's feast, including the fish and prawns he had left on the deck.
"I'll season these." Regina rolled her sleeves as she sat at the wooden table. Before her lay a tray of freshly caught fish and prawns.
Ashrik simply threw the defense esper a glance before Regina began rubbing the first fish with coarse salt. She pressed her fingers firmly along its sides before sprinkling some crushed pepper and ground herbs across its tender skin.
Then, Regina dipped a brush into a bowl of reddish paste, Ashrik's special spicy paste. He made it with chilli flakes, garlic, preserved lemon peels and a few other ingredients.
Despite the paste's glaring red color, it wasn't as spicy as one thought.
