Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Bold Mei, Temperature Rising

"Today is really worth celebrating. Thank you so much, Lynn."

Mei smiled brightly, unconsciously dropping the "Mr." from his name.

Not only had she found a new job, but safety was no longer a concern.

And most importantly—

She could see Lynn every day.

"I think there are some leftovers in the fridge. How about a midnight snack?" Mei suggested cheerfully.

It had been the happiest day she'd had in a long time.

And at only eleven o'clock, for a city that never slept like New York, it wasn't late at all.

Of course, whether they had that snack still depended on Lynn.

[Mei's Favor increased]

Again?

Just a little more, and he'd receive a reward.

"Of course," Lynn replied with a smile. "Thanks for the invitation."

Seeing Mei's hopeful yet slightly nervous expression, he had no reason to refuse.

"Relax, I'm a great cook," Mei said confidently as she casually slipped off her sweater.

The mature, alluring charm of a young wife bloomed instantly.

It was almost breathtaking.

Damn.

She really was a perfect MILF.

Even Lynn had to admit the sight was stunning.

"Call me when it's ready, Aunt Mei," Peter said as he headed upstairs.

"I'll write down a shopping list for tomorrow, Mr. Lynn."

Lynn leaned back on the sofa and took out his phone.

George had already sent several messages, asking why he hadn't returned yet.

Rolling his eyes, Lynn replied that he was still calming the victim's emotions.

He could almost picture George stomping through the snow outside, furious.

Ding-ding-ding!

Messages poured in one after another.

Lynn ignored them.

Then the calls started.

One after another.

Fifteen minutes later, seeing his battery almost drained, Lynn shook his head helplessly.

George really deserved to be a director—damn persistent.

Calling nonstop like this.

Lynn knew exactly what it was about.

Another round of "get back here immediately."

This guy—can't enjoy things himself, yet worries others might.

"My phone's dead," Lynn muttered with a sigh.

He still had patrol duty until five in the morning.

Without a phone, it would be boring as hell.

He looked around the room, searching.

A charger.

"Lynn, are you looking for something?"

A gentle voice sounded behind him.

Mei hurried over, carrying a fruit plate.

From the very beginning, she'd been sneaking glances at him.

The moment she noticed he needed something, she moved.

"My phone died," Lynn said, holding up the powerless device.

"Oh, wait a moment."

Mei suddenly realized their phones were the same brand.

That tiny coincidence made her inexplicably happy.

Her pretty face lit up with a radiant smile.

Wearing slippers, she dashed upstairs.

The wooden stairs creaked under her hurried steps.

The twin lanterns wrapped in soft fabric swayed wildly—

Drawing perfect arcs with every bounce.

Their presence was impossible to ignore.

Soon, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed again.

"Ah!"

A cry of surprise rang out.

In her haste, Mei missed a step and pitched forward.

Her arms flailed instinctively, eyes wide with panic.

But—

No pain came.

Instead, she heard a steady, powerful heartbeat beside her ear.

And that familiar masculine scent.

She lifted her head.

Only then did she realize she was pressed tightly against Lynn.

Their bodies were flush together—intimate to the extreme.

Her heart instantly tangled.

Her breathing grew rapid.

As if possessed, she closed her eyes and leaned forward.

Their lips met.

It had been so long.

So long since she'd felt like this.

Lynn froze for a split second, caught off guard by Mei's sudden boldness.

But the cool softness brushing against his lips stirred him instantly.

Especially with the lush pressure of Mei's curves pressed against him—

And the faint rose fragrance lingering in her hair.

Everything felt perfect.

Breathing growing heavy, Lynn gently pinned her against the wall.

His hands began to roam.

Tonight, he'd play the role of Cao Thief—

And thoroughly tame this beautiful wife.

"N-Not here… what if Peter comes down…"

Mei murmured softly, eyes dazed, the last sliver of reason struggling to surface.

Yet the moment she said it—

For reasons she couldn't even understand—

It only made everything more exciting.

Lynn paused briefly.

Then pressed closer.

Mei placed her hands on his chest and gave a light push.

But the strength behind it was pitiful—

More like an invitation than resistance.

In the end, she sighed softly.

Gave up struggling.

And wrapped her arms tightly around his solid body.

It had been far too long.

Far too long since she'd felt this warmth.

All the stress she'd bottled up finally found an outlet.

Just as she was about to completely surrender—

Lynn suddenly stopped.
