Chapter 6 - The Ghost in the Office

Days four and five were the hardest. The Singhania Group was a machine, and Akshara was the oil. Without her speaking, the gears began to grind.

The 10:00 AM board meeting was a disaster. Usually, Akshara would give Vihaan a quick brief on each director's mood. Today, she just handed him a tablet and sat in the corner, her face a mask of stone. When a director asked her a question about the projections, she didn't speak. She simply pointed to the slide on the screen.

"Akshara, for heaven's sake, just say the numbers!" Vihaan snapped mid-meeting .

She didn't even flinch. She picked up a laser pointer and highlighted the figure. The directors looked at each other, confused. The "Ice King" was losing his cool, and his PA was the one freezing him out.

Back in his office, Vihaan slammed the door. "Stop this! Enough! I told you it was a joke. I told Vikram to cancel the notice five minutes after he gave it to you!"

Akshara looked at him, her eyes empty. She picked up a notepad and wrote: 'The joke revealed your character. I am here to fulfill my notice period. Please refrain from personal conversation.'

She held the note up to his face.

Vihaan felt a surge of rage and something else—fear. He had spent four years building a world where Akshara was the air he breathed. Now, he was suffocating in the vacuum she had created.

"I am your boss!" he roared.

She wrote again: 'And I am your employee. Not your toy.'

She walked out, leaving him in a silence so loud it made his ears ring. That night, Vihaan didn't go to the club. He stayed in his office, staring at her desk, realizing that he didn't even know how to order his own dinner without her.
