Chapter 37 - Slight Quarrel

Inside the domain of a certain god—

.

.

Floating mirrors and strange hats filled the empty space as rays of light bounced off from the clear glass pane, the floor decorated with endless distorted shadowed figures that banged on an invisible wall that separates them with the surface and the abyss beneath them.

The shadowed eyes and mouth all laughed relentlessly, despite their unheard voice, their laughter shook the entire space as if the soundwaves that they expel will one day broke through the invisible wall above them.

Above the surface of the abyss, where those shadowed figures live, another humanoid figure stood motionlessly as it stares into the empty space with nothing but floating mirrors.

The lonely figure wears a black and red attire with a cape that sways all the way to its knee, embroidered with a pocket that contains playing cards, masks that hangs on its waist, and a floating halo above his head with the shape of a smiling face.

"He's fascinating." The figure said, his voice sounded like a naive young man, his lips curved as one of the mirrors around him suddenly flew infront of him and stopped.

Then, from that mirror, a face appeared, a woman with light green curvy hairs and eyes, plain dress that exposed her cleavage, along with her accessories that seemed to lean towards nature.

The woman looked at the mysterious man within the mirrored realm, her brows was slightly furrowed and she crossed her legs before she asked.

"Heidolus, i heard what you did from Scientes.. Care to explain?"

The woman spoke in a demanding tone, her voice sounded similar to Ignis but a bit more girly, it felt like a barrage of trumpets and choir being performed simultaneously.

Heidolus, the man who reigned over the mirrored space, then opened his eyes, revealing a heart shaped pupil in his right eye and a diamond shaped pupil in his left eye, his smile didn't fade, but it instead grew wider.

"My, my.. It's nice to meet you, lady Vitassia– Would you like a cup of tea? Or perhaps a little performance?" Heidolus said, he lowered his upper body as he greeted the woman infront of him, which turns out to be Vitassia.

The Goddess of Life.

"Im not here to play with you, answer my question." Vitassia replied with a louder voice, she was undoubtely frustrated at Heidolus, and the reason was due to his past doings.

"What are you plotting this time.. Convincing Animaeth to transfer a soul from another world to a dead body here, are you trying to defy the process of life itself?"

Heidolus could feel his entire presence being tested infront of Vitassia, as one of the higher Gods within the divine realm, she was considered a pillar of the gods, and Heidolus, which merely just a middle gods, was struggling to even stand before her.

'He.. Hehe.. So this is the pressure from one of the pillar.. I admit, it's heavy.' He thought.

After delaying his answer, Heidolus then opened his mouth, his grin was eerie even for Vitassia.

"Be not worry, my lady– I can assure you, that what i did wasn't an act of defiance to your domain and control–

"You held control over life, the process of being born and living, along with Morswalth, life ended with death– But, after death, the soul of those who have died, will then be freed from both of your control, and it will go towards Animaeth, as she is the one that held control over souls—

"Based on the agreement of the middle gods and higher gods, the process of life concludes with birth, life, death, and lastly.. Reincarnation".

Heidolus abruptly stopped as he lift his head to see the frowning Vitassia, then he continued.

"The process of being reborn, that is reincarnation.. And such process does not violate any of the rules or agreement that we've built– I, whose only a middle god. wouldn't dare to oppose any of the higher gods—

"What i did was just helping Animaeth with the process of Reincarnation– A soul from another world, consented to his own death, was sent to possess a dead body whose soul had been freed—

"Reincarnating the same soul to the same body is a violation, but not if its a different soul.. So what i did is merely a normal reincarnation process, my lady."

Heidolus ended his speech with another bow to Vitassia, the smiling face halo above his head gradually grew larger as he then calmly grabbed one of the floating tophats beside him and put it on his head.

Vitassia sat on her throne with anger, the throne handle that was supposed to be used to let both of her arms rest suddenly broke after both of her hands clenched, her eyes glowed and her veins almost protruded from her skin.

For a few seconds, Vitassia opened her mouth a couple times, as if wanting to argue back to Heidolus, but was unable to do so after she found out that what he said was nothing but the truth.

'A higher god hesitating to speak.. Truly beautiful.' Heidolus said to himself.

Without being able to think of a way to blame Heidolus, Vitassia then sighed as she calmed herself down.

"Tch.. Even if it's a reincarnation, why do you need to put that otherworldly soul into a dead body? Letting him possess into a newborn baby would've been a better choice." She said with her right hand placed on her forehead.

Heidolus heard Vitassia's question, and he immediately smiled again before he answered.

"But that wouldn't be fun would it?" He said, his voice sounded like a mockery rather than playful.

"Like i said earlier, my lady– I have done nothing that deserve a punishment. And it seems like—"

A brief silence took over, and Heidolus slowly lifted his head to look at the stars above him.

"Even Weaverer is enjoying my trick."

Vitassia gasped after she heard the name Weaverer was mentioned, and she instantly looked up aswell, her pupils shrinked and her eyes widened in shock, almost like she couldn't believe what Heidolus had just said.

"Weaverer...?" She said.

Inside of another god's domain realm—

An empty void, nothingness stretching infinitely, devouring any light and sound. In the middle of that darkness, an infinitely stretching infinite strand of strings was etched into the fabric of the darkness itself, the strings came in various colors and state, some curved, some hanged in a straight line, some were knotted with other strings, and some were tied to a colossal pillars.

Beneath the countless colorful strings, a shallow water filled the entire empty space with small waves and droplets, all of this space, pillars, and strings, were all owned by a single being that is.

Ting!

"—He.. Will not... Succeed." A voice came from figure that looks to be a human girl, her face resembled a girl who was 14 years old, and she wore a white plain dress, her long hairs was dyed black, and her eyes glowed with purple hue, she stood amongst the massive pillars and the endless strings above her.

As she stared into the shallow water beneath her, a puddle formed with waves that soon turned into a projector.

The human girl watched as Heimfher appeared on the water puddles, along with an old man that was frantically searching for something within a wooden house.

Heimfher was sitting inside of that projector, he seems to be continuing the investigation on the location of the old man that was beside him.

While the two of them was being observed by the girl, completely unaware of her gaze, she abruptly spoke to Heimfher.

"You... Will find them..... In three days...." She calmly said, her voice sounded like a stagnant water, each of her words was delayed, as if she never properly learned how to talk.

Then, with a gentle step, she walked forward, erasing the water puddles and dismissing the image of Heimfher and the old man.

Ting!

The girl left, but another image was projected on the water, it showed the face of Lena who was sitting with Heimfher and the rest of the division 0.

Back to the mortal world, in the East district of Monetre—

The sun was shining brightly above the sky, as pedestrians of the city were diligently working, Heimfher and his colleagues were sitting on a carriage as the horses infront of them galloped towards a destination with Dan being the driver.

Rustle!

Rustle!

"Hm?.." Heimfher looked around him all of a sudden, as if he was searching for something.

A few of his colleagues noticed his strange behavior and asked.

"What's wrong?" Murph said.

"Ah.. Nothing, i feel like.. I just heard someone calling me." Heimfher replied as he scratched his cheek.

'Was it just my imagination?...'

The carriage kept moving, turns after turns was taken, and eventually the 4 wheeler and 8 legged carriage stopped infront of a smithing shop.

Heimfher walked out of the carriage and saw the building infront of him, it was quite large, and the smell of iron was strong there, with each second, Heimfher could hear the sound of an anvil being struck from the inside of the shop, and he felt curious.

Clang!

Clang!

Clang!

'Is this like a weapon shop?.. Usually these kind of shops is popular among adventurers– But unfortunately they don't exist in this world.' Heimfher thought.

His lips frowned for a little while, shortly after he exited the carriage, he was pushed by Duskiell who forced him to follow the others.

"What the hell are you looking at.. We're not here to buy a sword." He said.

The division 0 walked to the side of the smithing shop, and what they found was an alleyway that looks narrow, barely fit a person inside, if they were to go in at the same time, they would be crushed with each other.

"—Let's get started." Murph declared, he became the first person to go in.

Followed by Duskiell, Carlessa, Heimfher, Harith, Bentley, and Lena moments later.
