Chapter 2 - Silver Mist Range

A young man around Ye Tian's age stood in the way. His eyes filled with arrogance and superiority as he played with a golden token in his hand, which was issued by the city only to cultivators.

Clearly showing off his identity.

Ye Tian couldn't help but frown, his expression serious.

One had to know Clear Water City had a population of a million and only two percent of it were cultivators. So the chances of encountering one were quite slim, especially in the outer city; hence, he had not been too worried about it.

But it looks like fate did not want him to live an easy life.

"Why should I hand over my land? And who are you to speak like this?"

Ye Tian was cautious but not afraid.

"Haha, you don't know me? I am Wu Yang, young master of the Wu family, and a third-stage Qi Gathering cultivator."

Wu Yang sneered.

"Now—will you hand over the Silver Mist Range, or not?"

Ye Tian's eyes narrowed.

From the introduction book provided by the system, he already knew about strong forces inside the Clear Water City.

The Wu family was one of the four great families.

Although they weren't the strongest, it was not something he could afford to provoke.

"No. I won't give my land to anyone and nor is it up for sale." Ye Tian resolutely refused.

Although Silver Mist Range was useless, it was the only land with spiritual qi that he could afford.

"Hmph! I was giving you a chance to save yourself. But since you don't appreciate it, don't blame me for what comes next."

Wu Yang snorted coldly and took his leave.

Ye Tian froze for a second, not comprehending what this young master wanted. However, he didn't dwell on it and before anyone could notice him, he made his way out of the city.

"Young master, why even ask him? Just kill him and take it. Who would care about a mortal's death?" a servant muttered.

"Heh! He isn't worthy of me taking action. Moreover, if I decide to do something in the Silver Mist Range, can he stop me? In fact, it's better this way; we don't have to worry about drawing attention."

"That's true… But what if he discovers that place?" the servant whispered.

"Haha! A mere mortal? What could he possibly discover? Enough—let's return. We need to prepare."

With that, Wu Yang and his attendant hurried away.

A dilapidated house in the outer city.

"Boss, that brat just slipped out of the city."

"Yeah. If the gate guard hadn't been one of ours, we would've lost him."

Two men hurried into the room, bowing as they reported to a middle-aged man seated on a chair.

"Hmm? Looks like he is quite cautious."

The middle-aged man chuckled with amusement.

"A pity such tricks won't work in front of me, Zheng Dong."

He stated this before commanding his subordinates to gather everyone for attack.

Ye Tian did not know that his whereabouts has leaked and even if he knew, he would not be surprised.

Because he already anticipated someone bribing the gate guard for his information.

Not to mention it was easy to speculate where he was going so he had been prepared for any surprise attacks.

The only thing that worried him was Wu Yang. However, worrying was useless so he could only remain cautious and continue towards his destination.

Because he was riding a horse, the journey was quite smooth and swift.

Unknowingly an hour passed by and his destination grew closer. He could even see the silhouette of large mountains ahead.

"It's really big," he muttered with a deep breath.

The Silver Mist Range was twenty miles long and twelve miles wide, containing a total of seven high peaks and thirteen smaller peaks.

If anyone from earth owned this much land, they would definitely be excited; however, all Ye Tian could do was sigh bitterly because even from a distance he could see how barren the mountain range was.

There was not even a single speck of grass on the entire mountain range, as if plagued by something. The ground was also cracked and dug out everywhere.

If there was something good, then it was the mysterious silver mist on the highest peak. However, that too was thin and about to dissipate.

In the past the whole silver mist range was covered with such silver mist but the main source of mist was 'Spirit Silver Ore,' which had been excessively excavated, and it was because of this excavation the silver mist range became barren.

Ye Tian once again let out a helpless sigh and made his way towards the highest peak in silence.

What could he say except curse the system in his heart?

He swore if the system was not good to him, then even if he died, he wouldn't let the system have good days either.

Provoking him, Ye Tian, did the system really think he was easily bullied?

Just kidding; he was really afraid of death.

"Huh? Why is there a house built here?"

As soon as Ye Tian got through the silver mist, he could not help but question with a stunned look as he found a dilapidated wooden house on top of the highest peak. There was even a small lake behind house and shockingly, it was filled with clear water.

In this barren land the existence of a house and lake was really surprising.

If not for the fact there was no trace of someone living here, Ye Tian would return to the city and complain that someone had acquired his land forcefully before demanding compensation.

[Ding! Detected land belonging to host. Does the host want to use the sect establishment token and use this broken house as a sect hall? Yes/No]`

[Warning: Once the land and main hall are bound, they cannot be changed.]

A cold voice reverberated in Ye Tian's mind as a holographic panel flickered before him.

He really wanted to say, 'No, I don't want to,' but could he afford to?

Whether he could live or not depended on this sect's establishment. Even if this land had been abandoned by the heavens, he had no choice.

"Do it," he said through gritted teeth.

Even if the heavens mocked him, he would rise.

Well… as long as his system was heaven-defying.
