Chapter 12 - CH.12

The Asgardian gods in Tooth Tower City were locked in fierce combat.

Although the Lingxi people possessed great physical strength, they were clearly no match for the Asgardians' high-tech weapons and equipment. From the very beginning, it was a massacre.

By now, several hundred Lingxi had fallen and would never rise again. The remaining survivors began fleeing in panic.

Even the dullest mind understood the value of life.

But how could the Asgardian gods possibly pass up such an opportunity for slaughter?

Thus, the hunt began.

Just then, a blinding light suddenly appeared in the sky.

When everyone looked up, they saw that a large number of unidentified spacecraft had appeared in orbit at some unknown moment. They seemed to be projecting something downward.

The next instant, streaks of fiery red tore through the sky like shooting stars.

Dozens of meteors were plunging toward the ground.

"What's going on?"

The leader of the Asgardian gods halted the pursuit. He raised his wrist, tapped his communicator, and attempted to contact their ship in orbit.

However, no matter how many times he tried, the device only crackled with static.

There was no response.

At the same time, the sudden change in the sky made the other Asgardians stop as well. They quickly regrouped around their captain.

"Captain, our communicators are offline. What's happening?"

"Captain, has our ship been destroyed?"

"Captain, what should we do? These people don't seem friendly."

"Team leader—"

The captain waved his hand impatiently and barked, "Quiet! Everyone, stay on high alert!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the group fell silent and began quietly charging their equipment.

Despite being called gods, their weapons did not possess unlimited energy.

The spears and shields they had just used had already consumed a significant amount of power.

Once preparations were complete, they all looked back up at the sky.

By now, the "shooting stars" were close enough to see clearly.

They were rectangular black landing modules.

Such landing craft were common in space, usually used for planetary deployment—or as emergency escape pods.

Each module could carry around a thousand individuals.

As they stared at the countless falling modules, sweat slowly formed on the foreheads of the Asgardian gods.

Were these newcomers allies… or enemies?

Several minutes later.

The landing modules finally struck the ground.

After only slight deceleration, they slammed into the surface with deafening crashes, their reinforced hulls absorbing the impact.

A series of rumbling explosions echoed across the land.

Fortunately, Tooth Tower City's walls were sturdy. Though shaken, they were far enough away that the landing modules remained intact.

At that moment, the captain gave an order.

"Ali, deploy drones. Check the situation."

The Asgardian named Ali nodded. He pulled out three fist-sized metal spheres from his waist and tossed them onto the ground.

Raising his arm, he activated them.

The spheres split open, revealing glowing red optical lenses. Their anti-gravity systems engaged, and they rose into the air.

Under Ali's control, the three reconnaissance drones flew outward.

Holographic images appeared before him.

As the drones approached the unfamiliar landing modules, the details became clear.

The modules were pitch black, with sharp, pointed tops. They had embedded themselves deeply into the ground.

Moments later, their stabilizing systems activated, and the craft slowly leveled out, their pointed tips rising skyward like swords.

What happened next filled every Asgardian with terror.

The hatches opened.

A flood of black liquid poured out.

As the drones zoomed in, it became clear—

This wasn't liquid at all.

It was a tide of black figures.

Towering over two meters tall, with powerful limbs, savage faces, and razor-sharp teeth, they surged forward.

Anyone familiar with the universe would recognize them instantly.

They were Thanos's most terrifying force—

The Dark Order.

Now, these monsters were charging toward Tooth Tower City at speeds exceeding 150 kilometers per hour.

The moment he saw this, the Asgardian captain shouted in horror,"We must retreat! We cannot let ourselves be surrounded!"

The others snapped out of their shock.

"Yes—run!"

"But our ship is gone! How do we escape?"

"Anywhere! Just run if you don't want to die!"

"We haven't returned to Asgard in a long time. They'll notice our absence. We just need to survive until rescue arrives!"

Quickly, the six reached a consensus.

They chose the direction with the fewest enemies and fled.

It must be said—Asgard truly deserved its reputation as a ruling race.

Even ordinary Asgardian soldiers moved like minor superheroes, sprinting at incredible speed. In moments, they had cleared the city.

Unfortunately, the Dark Order was just as fast.

Not long after leaving Tooth Tower City, black figures appeared ahead in the distance.

"Damn it! There are monsters in front of us!"

"Captain, what do we do?!"

"I don't want to die… I don't want to die…"

Before a single blow was exchanged, despair had already taken hold.

The enemy numbers were overwhelming. Victory was impossible.

Yet the captain running at the front clenched his teeth and roared,

"Warriors of Asgard! By Odin—charge!"

His words struck like a spark.

The remaining five straightened, their fear turning into resolve.

At this moment, they looked like true heroes.

Even knowing death was certain, they still charged forward for that final sliver of hope.

Seconds later—

Six Asgardian gods surged forward like a golden blade, plunging straight into the black tide.

But no matter how strong they were, it didn't last long.

Faced with the seemingly endless Dark Order, they were quickly overwhelmed.
