After a long moment, PK finally eased away from Eve.
She inhaled sharply, trying to steady her breathing, one hand resting against his chest as if the world had tilted beneath her feet. For a few seconds, she honestly thought she might collapse. Instead, PK pulled her into a gentle embrace, holding her close until her heartbeat slowed.
Without a word, PK lifted her slightly and settled her onto his lap. Eve didn't resist. She simply rested there, her forehead against his shoulder, both of them wrapped in a quiet calm.
PK remained silent for a long time.
Eve didn't rush him. She knew that silence was where PK organized his thoughts.
Finally, he spoke.
"Tell me what you know about the Root family."
Then, in a low, measured voice, he narrated everything that had happened at Royal Leaf—his request, the manager's arrogance, the name that had been thrown at him like a warning.
Eve's eyes widened slightly.
"You really went that far… on your first visit?" she asked, half-amused, half-impressed.
PK gave a faint smile. "I needed information."
Eve nodded and straightened a little, her tone turning serious.
"The Root family is one of the top five families in the region. They don't just run businesses—they influence cities. Z City, in particular, is under their shadow."
She paused before continuing.
"The one managing things here is Bane Root. He's second in line to become the family head. The first is his elder brother, Victor Root, who currently oversees the family's core operations in D City."
PK listened intently, his expression unreadable.
"Bane," Eve continued, "is dangerous in a very different way. On the surface, he's charming—always smiling, always surrounded by women. He treats relationships like games, disposable entertainment."
Her voice hardened slightly.
"But don't underestimate him. He's a business genius. Ruthless. Calculating. He never moves without profit in mind. And if someone gets in his way…" she didn't finish the sentence, but she didn't need to.
"He enjoys control," she added quietly. "People, money, fear. All of it."
PK absorbed every word, his fingers lightly tracing patterns on Eve's arm as he processed the information.
"So," he said at last, "Z City is his playground."
Eve nodded. "For now."
PK smiled—slow, thoughtful, and dangerous.
Without another word, he leaned in and kissed Eve again. This time it was deeper, slower, carrying intent rather than heat. Eve responded instinctively, her arms looping around his neck.
That was when—
A faint sound.
PK paused and tilted his head slightly.
"Come in," he said calmly. "You two little thieves."
The door opened.
Lana and Luna stood there, side by side, their faces filled with guilt and embarrassment. They clearly hadn't meant to get caught—but they also hadn't meant to leave.
Eve tried to stand up immediately, but PK's arm tightened around her waist, keeping her exactly where she was.
The twins lowered their heads.
PK looked at them, amusement flickering in his eyes.
"Eavesdropping," he said lightly. "That's a bad habit."
Lana and Luna watched from them, their own lips still swollen and red from his earlier kiss.
Then looked back at him—silent, apologetic, and very aware that things were about to get interesting..
