On a beautiful day in Oura nation, a kid named Daigo happily plays with his wooden sword in his backyard while his brother Tomo watches over him.
Daigo whirls his sword through the air, pretending to unleash bursts of magic from his fingertips, and shouts,
"Die, villain! As the king of power, I will defeat every evil in this world with my incredible strength!
Tomo is just smiling in the corner, shaking his head fondly as he watches Daigo, a mixture of amusement and affection in his eyes.
"Is this really my brother? I don't think I was this silly back then, Hahahaha."
Night settles in, and as bedtime arrives, their mother, Aiko, weaves a bedtime story, but Daigo interrupts her with a question.
"where is dad, mom? I didn't see Dad the whole day."
Aiko replied,
"Dad still at work, honey, maybe it's time for you to sleep.
Aiko tucks Daigo in, kisses his forehead softly, and gently switches off the light.
Around 11 pm, their father, Kenji, finally came home after work. He is the head of Kaido Village and the Kaminari family.
Years slip by, and Daigo grows into a determined 17-year-old, his dream of becoming King of Power burning brighter than ever. On his birthday, Tomo turns to him with a question.
"Daigo, you are now 17 years old. What is your goal from now on?"
Daigo proudly says,
"Brother, you really don't know? My goal is still the same: to become the King of Power and change the world to be a better place!"
Tomo smiles, unsurprised, his eyes full of quiet pride for his little brother.
As evening falls, the Kaminari family gathers around the table, waiting for Kenji to return so they can share a meal together.
'Where is this old man? He is always late,' Tomo grumbled, and then Aiko corrected him by saying,
"Hey, language tomo, you don't call your father like that, besides, he is busy with his work."
After two long hours, Kenji finally arrives, apologizing for the wait. He brings with him a wrapped gift for Daigo, a birthday surprise shimmering with promise.
"Daigo, close your eyes, I've got a gift for you! I almost forgot to buy you a gift, but thankfully, my assistant reminded me. Here, open it up, son; I hope you like it." with a tiny sorrowful face that he knew would ruin everyone's mood.
Daigo's hands tremble with excitement as he unwraps his father's birthday gift. Eyes wide, he exclaims,
"What! A yellow cape with gradient thunder! This is so cool, Dad, thank you very much!"
Kenji beams at Daigo's delight, but then his expression shifts to one of seriousness as he leans in to ask his son a few questions.
"Daigo, tell me what you want to do in your life, son?"
"I want to be King of Power in the future, Dad," says Daigo to his father with his smiley face.
"Son, you are almost grown up now, tell me when you are going to be the King of Power? His dad replied calmly.
"I don't know, Dad, but surely someday I will become one, just trust me," says Daigo, but Kenji quickly replies by saying,
"Daigo, that's enough! Stop your daydreaming and focus on a more realistic goal in life."
Shock ripples through the room as Kenji suddenly raises his voice at Daigo. Hurt and bewildered by his father's lack of support, Daigo leaps from his chair and shouts back,
"I will prove I can be the King of Power one day!" With that, Daigo bolts from the house, disappearing into the nearby forest. Aiko rushes to follow, but
'Aiko, let him be, he needs to realise that his dream is just a dream, not a reality," says Kenji to stop Aiko from chasing after Daigo.
'Why are you doing this? You're ruining his birthday! All this time you didn't care and smile at him when he mentioned he wanted to become King Of Power!' snapped Aiko angrily.
'Because he was a kid back then! Now he is almost an adult, Aiko. I want what's best for him,' Kenji answered.
Two anxious hours pass with no sign of Daigo. Worry gnaws at the family as Kenji and Tomo set out to search for him,
"Tomo, you go search there, and I will go here. Tell me if you find anything, okay?" Kenji tries to sound calm, but his heart is racing, and his breathing is uncontrollable; his worry is evident in every word.
After three exhausting hours, Kenji finally finds Daigo and collapses in tears, overwhelmed by what he discovers.
All along, Daigo has kept a hidden training ground, a secret even from Tomo. Here, he has pushed himself into solitude, determined to grow stronger on his own.
For five hours, Daigo remains at his secret spot, training relentlessly until exhaustion finally claims him.
Kenji stands in silent remorse, his shoulders heavy as he replays the harsh words he spoke to his son, regret and sorrow etched deeply into his features.
Two weeks slip by, and Daigo still avoids his father, finishing dinner quickly and leaving the table in silence.
One day, Kenji calls out to Daigo, but the stubborn teenager turns away, refusing to answer.
Unable to bear the tension any longer, Aiko's face fills with concern as she insists that Daigo finally face his father and talk things through,
"That's it, Daigo, I want you to go to your father and talk it out like a man!"
After his mother's stern words, Daigo finally joins his father in the quiet backyard, sitting down beside him.
'Son, do you really want to chase your impossible dream?' Kenji asked, his brows furrowed with concern, but Daigo, feeling stung and defensive, does not take it lightly; he bursts out and says
"It's not impossible! Look at Alaric' The God-Like' Balthazar, he became King of Power at the age of 24! If he can do it, that means I can do it too."
'Hahahaha, son, are you really comparing yourself to Alaric?' Kenji chuckled.
"Yeah,...now that you mention that, it's kinda embarrassing to compare myself to Alaric, hahaha," Daigo admits, his laughter tinged with self-consciousness as he realizes what he said.
Kenji, with another serious face, says,
"If you are really serious about this son, there is a place in this world for you to become just like him."
"What do you mean, Dad? Daigo is confused by what his father says
"Alaric 'The God-Like' Balthazar is known as the strongest mortal being in the whole world. When he was your age, he enrolled in this very prestigious school in the Mordos nation called The Noveum Academy." Kenji explained the school to Daigo for a while.
After he explained the school and how it works, Kenji asked Daigo an important question,
"Daigo, you want to enroll in this school to chase your dream? If you want to, this will be my second gift to you for your birthday".
Daigo can hardly believe his ears. Overwhelmed with emotion, he throws his arms around his father, tears of relief and gratitude streaming down his face as he whispers a heartfelt thank you.
