Everything before her eyes blurred, shifting between illusion and reality.
Her nerves were stretched so taut her head felt ready to split open.
"AARGH—" She clutched her head. It felt as if a swarm of hornets was buzzing in her ears, while her mind was a murky pool being churned over and over.
"Be a good girl, Jin'er. Don't try to resist," he said with feigned concern. "The Master wants your body and soul intact. I really don't want to hurt you. It would break my heart."
The forest had thinned out here. Imposter No. 3 immediately spread his black-and-red wings and stretched out his arms, swooping down to snatch her.
An Jin had always been afraid of exposing her identity, so even after gaining her beast form, she had hardly ever used her ability to fly.
Her weakness was now laid bare. She tried desperately to adapt to her new body in the short time she had, but she could only fly in a clumsy, lurching manner.
Imposter No. 3 quickly closed the distance between them.
