A rustling came from the snow-covered bushes, and Gu Yin and Ling Hong appeared before her, each carrying a large armful of taro.
"Are you sure this stuff is edible?" Gu Yin asked, confused. "It's making my skin a little itchy. Don't touch it."
He took her outstretched hand in his.
"That's normal. The sap from raw taro has something in it that can make your skin itch." An Jin pulled her hand free and reached out to touch his slightly reddened arm, her voice full of concern. "The sap can cause an allergic reaction. When we get back, wash it off, then roast your arm over the fire for a bit, and it'll be fine."
'Roast it?'
Gu Yin frowned. Clearly, he was very resistant to the idea of roasting himself over a fire.
The moment the three of them returned to the city, they ran into some patrolling Beastmen. The Beastmen hurried over to An Jin. "Lord City Lord, you went out? It's still snowing. It might not be safe outside..."
