Chapter 257 - Chapter 171: What Steps Through

The deeper gate split wider with a long, grinding sound. Black mist poured out in thick waves, and the cold pressure became almost solid. Something massive moved behind the remaining darkness. A single enormous hand of pure shadow and old armor gripped the edge of the gate and pulled.

Wei Chen felt the claimed fragment pulse hard against his chest. The warning inside it was clear. Whatever was coming through was far older and heavier than the shadow lord they had already defeated.

The rival felt it too. For a moment his golden energy flickered. He looked toward the gate, then back at Wei Chen, calculation clear in his eyes.

The hand pulled harder. A broad shoulder of dense ancient darkness followed. Red eyes the size of shields opened in the mist and locked onto the floating platforms.

Tigress Yu shifted her stance at once. Zhao Yin's shadows rose higher around her feet. Huo Yan moved closer to Lan Qing and Mei Yun without needing an order. The disciples tightened their formation along the edges.

The ancient presence did not step fully through yet. It simply hung there in the broken gate, watching, the pressure of its existence alone enough to make several of the weaker outer disciples drop to one knee.

Wei Chen did not waste the moment of shared shock. He drove a dense burst of Yang at the rival, forcing him to block and give ground. The rival answered with a heavy golden strike of his own, but his attention was clearly divided.

The group used the opening. Tigress Yu and Zhao Yin cut down the residual shadow energy that kept rising under the new pressure. Huo Yan timed her flames with the ice from the other two queens, creating controlled bursts that kept the platforms from breaking apart further. The disciples finished anything that slipped past.

The massive figure in the gate shifted again. More of its body came through — a broad chest of ancient armor, a second arm, the beginning of a horned helm. The cold pressure spiked. Cracks spread across several platforms.

Wei Chen felt the fragment feed him another surge of Yang, denser than before. He used it to keep the rival from closing in while the deeper threat continued to emerge.

During a short stretch where the rival was forced to defend, Wei Chen moved past Tigress Yu. He checked the cut on her arm, then rubbed her firmly between her legs while speaking low.

"Stay ready. This one is different."

She gave a short breath and pressed against his hand for a few seconds before he turned back.

A short time later he pulled Zhao Yin close behind a more stable section of stone. He guided her down, pushed into her mouth, and moved with controlled rhythm while the ancient pressure continued to rise. She took him quietly until he pulled back and returned to the fight.

The figure in the gate pulled itself further through. The red eyes never left the platforms. A low, resonant sound rolled out of its chest — not quite a roar, not quite a voice.

Lan Qing steadied her breathing near the edge of the main platform. Wei Chen dropped lower for a brief moment, parted her legs, and licked her with focused pressure until her thighs tensed and she came with a soft, controlled sound. He stood, wiped his mouth, and moved back into position.

Mei Yun received a short moment while she prepared another cast. He stood behind her, cupped her breasts, and moved his thumbs across her nipples as he spoke close to her ear.

"Keep the mix ready. We may need everything."

She nodded, a light flush on her face, and continued.

The rival refused to disengage completely. He forced another clash with Wei Chen, golden energy flaring hard. Wei Chen met it with the fragment's power and drove him back again. The stone under them split further.

The ancient figure finished pulling its torso through the gate. The full weight of its presence settled over the sealed area. Several platforms at the edges simply cracked and began to fall away into the void.

Wei Chen felt the claimed fragment pulse one more time — stronger, clearer, and carrying a sharp sense of both warning and recognition.

The rival's eyes narrowed as he felt the same thing.

The being in the gate was no longer only emerging.

It was looking directly at them.
