Farther out—beyond the reach of her Arts—someone raised a crossbow, ready to loose.
Texas acted as if she hadn't seen it and kept charging.

A gunshot cracked—he toppled instantly and received a premium-quality nap.
"Su Yi… what were you, really?"
After breaking out, Texas cut right, shook off the pursuers, and couldn't help recalling the first day Su Yi ever touched a firearm.

The Vulpo leader watched, wide-eyed, as those three began pushing toward his position, and hurriedly reassigned manpower to block them.

"Are you hurt?" Su Yi asked immediately.
Texas shook her head.
"Then we're fine."
Su Yi holstered the pistol, dragged a chair from the roadside, and sat down—completely at ease—waiting for the LGD to arrive.
"You don't care how he died?" Anthony asked, pointing at the body.
He was the ambush leader, for crying out loud. Wasn't Su Yi being a little too casual?
"I don't care," Su Yi said. "I only care about Texas."
Texas's wolf ears twitched slightly. Her eyes lowered.
Oh—right. And he should probably let Chen Hui-jie know.
Su Yi rubbed his right shoulder, pulled out his terminal, took a photo of the wrecked street, and sent it to Chen Hui-jie.
