Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The start

In this world, children did not become trainers at ten.

They became students.

At the age of ten, every child with League registration was enrolled into a Pokémon academy. Not to battle, not to travel, but to learn. The League had learned long ago that raw talent burned out faster than it grew. Knowledge, discipline, and controlled exposure created champions. Everything else created statistics.

Academies varied wildly.

Most towns had small institutions, limited facilities, a handful of shared Pokémon, outdated curriculum. Their students learned theory, practiced simulations, and graduated with enough competence to survive a journey. Few ever rose beyond that.

Then there were the elite academies.

Aurelius Academy stood above all of them.

Built on a massive artificial island far from any one region, Aurelius answered only to the League itself. Students lived on campus year-round. Every age had its own grade. Every grade had its own rankings. Progression was earned, never given.

The academy functioned on a point system.

Points determined everything.

High exam scores earned points. Research contributions earned points. Performance in sanctioned battles earned points. Even assisting senior students or instructors could earn points.

Points unlocked access, private training rooms, advanced move tutoring, rare Pokémon interactions.

And Pokémon themselves.

No student entered an academy with a partner. That privilege was removed entirely. Pokémon were provided by the institution, assigned based on performance and psychological evaluation. Smaller academies struggled with this system. Limited resources meant limited options. Their best students were still capped by what the school could offer.

Aurelius had no such limitation.

It housed hundreds of Pokémon across all known regions, maintained by specialists and researchers. Battles happened constantly. Observation was encouraged. Failure was recorded. Growth was measured.

By the time students turned eighteen, they didn't begin their journeys blindly. They chose paths:Gym Leader, League Operative, Researcher, Elite Track. The best went on to shape the future of competitive battling itself.

Aurelius did not create trainers.

It created outcomes.

We cut to a boy

white messy hair, crimson eyes, lightskin with a slender build, waking up before the alarm can even go off but that was nothing new to Yue.

He sat up

Today, the town's professor had called him in early. No reason given. Just a message that seemed important.

He thought about what it could be...

Will he finally go to school?

What academy will it be?

Will it be a good academy?

If it's Aurelius that would be awesome

He left the house, the town still half-asleep, and made his way to the lab.
