Chapter 15 - 16

The forest path narrows as it winds through tall trees, their canopies forming a green and gold quilt under the rising sun. Elara pauses, considering their course of action. Her eyes drift east, where the village lies nestled beyond the woods, a place of potential resources and stories. Yet the path ahead beckons with its own mysteries, shrouded in the promise of the unknown. She turns to her companions, her mind working through the logistics of their journey. "We should split up," Elara suggests, her voice carrying the authority of leadership tempered with consideration. "Some of us can go to the village to stock up on supplies and gather information. The rest should explore ahead, making sure the path is clear and safe." Thorbek nods, his expression one of restrained agreement. "I'll stay with the village," he offers, his practical nature well-suited to negotiating with merchants and examining local rumors. "Groth can come with me. His presence will deter any unwanted attention." Groth grunts in agreement, his eyes gleaming with silent understanding. Though not one for words, his formidable presence speaks volumes. Beside him, Pippin leaps onto his heels, an eager energy evident in his posture.

"I'll explore further," Pippin volunteers, a smile spreading across his face. "I have a special talent for spotting trouble before it finds us." Elara smiles at the halfling's enthusiasm, a warmth spreading through her chest. "Lyra, you should join Pippin and me," she suggests, turning to her newest companion. "That will give us a chance to learn more about each other's abilities and ensure we stay on the right path." Lyra nods, her eyes shining with curiosity and a tacit gratitude for the inclusion. "Sounds like a plan," they agree, adjusting their backpack straps. The group, now divided in purpose but united in intention, prepares to part ways, each subgroup tasked with its own mission. As they depart, the forest holds its breath, the air heavy with the promises of discovery and the bonds of growing camaraderie.
