Chief Bae Seung-ho Retired. Once ordered a cover-up that nearly cost Soo-jin his badge. Seo In-kyung An ex. Sweet smile, sharp words. Spread lies when Soo-jin finally ended it. Both are still alive. But for how long? He leaned back, running a hand through his hair. And then…His phone buzzed. Unknown number. One message. You're too late. He froze. Opened the message. A single photo. Blurry. Distant. But clear enough. Chief Bae. Dead in his car. Throat slashed. The K mark on his wrist. Soo-jin nearly dropped the phone. No fingerprints. No trace. Just like always. Next Morning A pause. Then Carlos looked him dead in the eye. "But you didn't mean it." Silence. Soo-jin's breathing hitched. Because somewhere deep, twisted, and awful he knew Carlos was right. "Stop this." His voice cracked. "Before I lose everything." Carlos stood. "You already did." "That's why I'm here." They stood there, inches apart. No cuffs. No barrier. Just them. Soo-jin's fists were trembling at his sides. And Carlos leaned in, so close his breath touched Soo-jin's cheek. "One name left, love." "Unless you want me to keep going." Soo-jin didn't move. Rain again. Of course it rains. Carlos stood at the edge of the rooftop, soaked, clothes clinging to him like regret.
