Chapter 1 - #1 RedBack Spider

Akane Kenta, tall, deep black hair, sharp dark brown eyes that carried a tint of red. His eyes had long lost their soft youthfulness even only being 17. He'd experienced something no one of any age should have. The entire families betrayal, every, single, one. He walked through the rain, no umbrella, just letting his anger cool down under the rain in the background of his mind.

He held both bags in one hand as he opened the door and ascended the staircase. Case after case he climbed until he got to his apartment and unlocked it. When he stepped inside he finally relaxed the scent of the apartment He'd began renting only a few months ago the kind of apartment that was cheap but not cheap enough to be a pig sty, in fact it was superbly clean. This was due to near constant cleaning, a habit beat into him by his grandfather.

He put the food away and slumped down on his bed facing the mostly empty wall. All except for one small intricately framed picture of an old man with more wrinkles than he had years. The man that beat cleanliness into his carefree grandson, the one who had great ambitions for him... that was stolen.

"Grandfather... I'm sorry... what can i do against the entire family... they took your business and turned it into some cheap yakuza family..." He said as he wallowed in despair for several minutes before getting up.

Despite wanting to do nothing but sleep his life away he walks through the apartment closing blinds, locking windows, locking his door and activating the security system he'd bought immediately after being disowned. He returns back to his room and sits down on the bed pulling a glock out from under his his bed and checks it. He'd bought this through his final connections before the families decision to disown him had spread. After checking the gun he sets it back down under the bed and lays down.

He falls asleep to his bad thoughts, each one returning back to his grandfather. Everything happened because his grandfather saw something in him that the rest of the family didn't and yet he cant bring himself to hate his grandfather for it. He did give him the best life he could and believed in everything he did along the way after all.

He tosses and turns in his sleep not even getting a moment of peace and dreams in his mindscape. His brain flashes from one nightmare to another making sure he savors each torturous scene but also keeping him on his toes. As he fights his own internal fight something approaches him in the dark of his room between beams of neon that slip between his blinds. It crawls up his cover and inches closer to his hand. It gets to his wrist and sinks it's fangs directly into his veins giving it's venom a straight stretch to his heart.

The venom reaches his hesrt and his body begins to absorb and process the foreign substance. His dna begins to rewrite itself, one piece that was there from the beginning begins taking pieces from the spiders DNA that floats around in the spiders venom. In his nightmares a large black spider with red on its back begins attacking him. He tries to run away but it's faster and catches up, he jumps away causing it to bite into the ground damaging its fangs.

Suddenly he wakes up to his own reflection in a window with the nighttime sky behind him. His hair floats up as his hands cling to the glass effortlessly. He looks up and sees the ground several hundred feet away and realizes his hair isn't floating, he is upside down. His feet stop stick and flip over him and stick below him setting him upright back against the wall. His back begins sticking to the wall as his hands stop clinging and he looks down at his hands.

"What... is this?" He asked as he examined his hands.

His fingertips now lacked fingerprints and instead had scar like flesh on them that felt muscular. As he was examining he flexed his finger and out shot a web sticking perfectly to the parallel buildings window. He gasped audibly and then supressed it thinking someone would hear him.

What is happening to me!?

He tries to rip the web off but it doesnt budge like its anchored to his finger tip. He yanks on the web and ends up pulling himself off the building and begins swinging towards the parallel buildings window. Just before colliding with the window webs shoot out of his left hands finger tips and attach to the other end of the building and he yanks on it. He arcs along the side of the building and as he reaches 90 degrees the webs on both hands detach and he is sent high into the air. With only boxers on the cold winter air slams into his back as he falls back down between the buildings. His hair whips past his face as he aims his fingers at the building and flexes his finger. Another web shoots out and latch on to the corner of the building and he begins arcing again. As he reaches a suitable point he flexes again and the web detaches while he aims with his right hand. After flexing in the same specific way another thin web shoots out and clings to another building. Now in the swing of things (pun intended) he begins his journey home.

He lands on the side of his building his hands and feet clinging to the wall beside his window. He crawls through the open window he crawled through in his sleep. Detached from the ceiling and landed on his feet before closing his window and locking it again. He approaches his computer and begins scrounging the internet but only finds forums of people talking about how scared they are of Meta-Humans with a few mentioning what powers would be the worst with spider powers popping up.
