Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 The Bard

"Another round," Delvin muttered, slapping two copper coins onto the sticky tavern table. He pulled his hand away in disgust, and clean this table while your at it. The barmaid barely glanced at him as she scooped them up, replacing the coins with a chipped mug of something that smelled vaguely like ale ignoring his other request.

Across the room, a group of mercenaries erupted into laughter, their armor clanking as one slapped his knee hard enough to topple his own drink. "Oi! Bard!" the beefiest one bellowed, ale dripping from his beard. "Play us something nice! Something with tits in it! One of his companions shouted over him" The rest of their companions roared their approval, pounding the table, Chuckles from around the tavern sounded, apparently agreeing with the man's taste of music.

Delvin's fingers twitched against his lute's strings not tuning, just resisting the urge to snap them. "Fuck off," he snarled, loud enough for the whole tavern to hear. The words hung in the thick air a second too long before the tankard hit him.

Ale dripped from his hair into his collar, his head hurt like crazy already feeling a welt swell where the tankard hit. The Mercenaries' laughter was loud along with most of the tavern joining in on heckling him.One of the mercenaries with a shiny bald head and rotted teeth wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "What's that, lute-boy? Gonna cry a pretty ballad about it?"

Delvin wiped his face with his sleeve, smearing ale across his cheek. His fingers found the strings, Fine you want a song he growled i'll play a song. Using one of his abilitys [Melody of Mayham] Delven started strumming a wild beat. His magic permiated the room not affecting those of a higher level than Delvin but enough where most of the patrons started to get heated inflaming their anger until it erupted

People attacked others as the melody played its beat wild and unrestrained Delven switched to a different ability [Melody of Confusuon] and discordent notes were played with every other note being off key and people started to trip over themselves fall and throw up except the group of Mercenaries trying to fight off all the other patrons under Delvins musics effect and a few others not effected scattered about not participating in the brawl.

The closer Delvin looked he noticed the group of Mercenaries swaying a bit his [Melody of Confusion] was having a bit of an effect. Delven then noticed one of the mercenaries splitting from the group heading towards him. Immediately he turned and dove to the side

The bald mercenary with rotten teeth staggered forward, his greataxe slashing wildly at the air where Delvin had been a second before. The bard ducked behind an overturned table, fingers never leaving the strings. Splinters flew as the axe embedded itself in the wood—close enough for Delvin to smell the oil used on the ax "Little shit!" the mercenary spat, yanking his weapon free. "I'll carve you a new fucking lute!"

Delvin's grin was all teeth as he launched into verse about the bald man trying to kill him, his voice cutting through the tavern's chaos: *"Oh there once was a man with a head like a melon—"* He sidestepped another swing, plucking a dissonant chord that made two brawling patrons collide mid-punch. *"—whose breath could knock out a Dragons rebellion! Said the goat to the whore—"* A chair shattered against the wall where his head had been. *"—'twasn't ale in his mug, but my shit from the floor!'"*

The lute pulsed like a living thing in his hands as he hit the final note, strings glowing crimson. The sonic wave hurled the bald mercenary backwards through three tables, his greataxe spiraling overhead to embed itself in the ceiling beams. The man's armor screeched against flagstones as he slid into the hearth, sending up a shower of sparks some logs flew out of the harth and landed on the wooden floor.

Delvin fell to his knees a splitting headache pounding in his head and his breathing labored his mana all but used up with that last blast using over half of what he had left. Hindsight he shouldn't of used that much mana with his [sonic cord] ability he was about to mock the man as he looked up

Delvin's smirk died mid-taunt as he saw the flames lick up the ale-soaked floorboards. SHIT. His fingers fumbled on the lute's neck, pulling up his translucent Stats page with a frantic mental command. The glowing letters swam before his eyes

Shit nothing I have can put out that fire damn me and my useless skills. Then came the hiss. A whip-thin tendril of water lashed across the tavern, its surface shimmering with unnatural precision. It coiled around the burning logs like a serpent strangling prey, extinguishing them instantly in bursts of steam. Delvin barely had time to see who had cast it all he caught was a cloaked figure in the corner lifting their hand then a second tendril hard as iron came from behind and slammed into the base of his skull
