Chapter 52 - Chapter 52

So much time had passed that Catherine didn't dwell on it too much and simply recounted what had happened, though she made sure to emphasize Bruce Lee's heroic actions.

"Is that what 'kung fu' is?"

Lily exclaimed in amazement.

It sounded truly incredible.

"Could you show us?"

"Sure, no problem,"

Lee Jun-fan nodded immediately.

Glover then generously stood up and stepped over to Lee Jun-fan.

"This is called the 'one-inch punch'—defeating your opponent in an instant by generating power at extremely close range."

Lee Jun-fan's martial arts were purely practical, discarding all unnecessary and flashy movements to crush the opponent in a fraction of a second.

Lee Jun-fan sank into a horse stance, and Glover braced himself. He placed his hand in front of Glover, extended it, and then suddenly clenched his fist, knocking Glover several steps backward, to the astonishment of Lily and the others.

Lee Jun-fan then walked over to the punching bag and demonstrated the same move again, sending the bag flying.

Everyone's expectations were completely exceeded by Lee Jun-fan's actions.

Wasn't a punch supposed to be stronger the longer you wound it up and the farther away you struck from?

How could such power be released at such a short distance?

Lily ran over to the punching bag and tried throwing a couple of punches herself, but the bag didn't budge.

Catherine knew, however, that while Lee Jun-fan's punches were powerful, his footwork was even more formidable.

Lee Jun-fan could leap into the air and deliver three consecutive kicks with enough force to send someone flying more than ten meters.

Lily suddenly asked, "Can we learn martial arts?"

Bruce Lee was genuinely surprised by Lily's question, but he quickly replied, "No problem. If you can endure the hardship, you can learn."

Catherine rolled her eyes at Lily.

"Forget it, I was just joking."

Lily didn't want to suffer.

"I think you could probably learn some self-defense techniques… you know, just in case," Linda said with a shrug.

"Would it be hard?"

"No. If you're just learning some basic self-defense, it's actually quite simple. I'm writing a book that might be helpful to you."

This was the only book Lee Jun-fan had published: Basic Chinese Boxing.

However, in Catherine's opinion, leg techniques were the essence of Bruce Lee's style.

And she didn't believe a girl's punch could have much impact on a strong man.

"Can you teach us some leg techniques? I mean, the ones that involve kicking."

She was very straightforward.

"Then I'll teach you some basic self-defense techniques,"

Lee Jun-fan said, and began explaining several fundamentals.

He only stopped when it grew dark.

"Mr. Lee, may I have your phone number?"

Catherine regretted forgetting to ask last time. Although there were no cell phones back then, telephones were already quite common.

Lee Jun-fan gave Catherine his number, and the three girls then said goodbye to him.

When they arrived at the hotel Bruce had arranged for them, Catherine thought about how Bruce Lee would die so mysteriously more than a decade later and felt a twinge of regret.

He wasn't just a celebrity—he was also her savior.

"Maybe… there's a way?"

Catherine pondered the question, but after all, it was a truth that hadn't been uncovered for decades—how could she possibly change it?

Soon, however, her attention was drawn to something else: GameTV.

At the Seattle World's Fair, all kinds of cutting-edge inventions were on display, showcasing humanity's ingenuity.

Before long, people were captivated by a color television.

This television, called GameTV, stood out not only for its appearance—full-screen TVs were still rare—but also for its incredible "video games."

Emma Blocks and Ping Pong: even though there were only two games, playing games on a television screen was completely unfamiliar, and they immediately caught everyone's attention.

Emma Blocks, in particular.

This astonishing game was hailed as "the world's first video game."

In Catherine's original world, Tetris was already a magical game, known as one you could play "for a hundred years without getting tired of it," which speaks to its popularity. It could be said that the vast majority of people who had ever used a computer had played it—especially in Japan, Europe, and the United States.

Soon, the news spread like wildfire, and GameTV became known to everyone. At the same time, more and more companies joined in. Bruce was extremely busy.

In one sweep, Apple's shipments of GameTV reached 300,000 units. It could be said that Catherine's goal had been initially achieved.

Since she still had classes to attend, Catherine and her friends only made a brief visit to the World's Fair before returning to Pennsylvania.

Fortunately, there was just a little over a month left until vacation, and after that everyone would have plenty of free time.

However, Catherine didn't rest during that month. While still keeping up with her studies, she managed to write the second and third parts of Fallout.

By the end of exam week, Catherine was already in ninth grade, the final year of middle school. Lily had moved on to tenth grade, while Jenny, Lisa, and Ida were in eleventh.

Total sales for Catherine's company had reached thirty million, with profits exceeding ten million.

With the launch of GameTV, Catherine had become a multimillionaire.

Catherine had already decided to launch her Little Tyrant console on January 1 of the following year.

She believed that once the console was released, her market would grow even stronger. After all, it was aimed primarily at the children's market—a relatively stable market, at least compared to adults, and one that was easier to enter. After all, the hippie movement was already emerging, and she didn't know what the future would bring.

Catherine's company had also begun developing personal computers.

Now that they had CPUs, they couldn't afford not to develop personal computers. Laptops would be available before long, and Catherine couldn't fall behind.

She even designed the exterior herself. The computer was an all-in-one, inspired by the original Fallout. In Catherine's version, the computer looked highly futuristic.
