Alpha Kasper's POV
I slammed the door of my bedroom, the silence of the palace feeling oppressive. I stripped off my suit jacket and tossed it onto the armchair, followed by my tie. My skin felt too tight for my body.
I stepped into the shower, letting the cold water needle my shoulders. All I could see when I closed my eyes was Hannah. The way she stood her ground, the fire in her eyes, and that scent—like rain-washed cedar and something sweet that made my inner wolf, Ria, pace restlessly.
I climbed out, wrapped a towel around my waist, and picked up my phone. I stared at the screen. Will I sound too desperate if I text her now?
You've started again, Ria growled. Just talk to her. She is ours.
"I'm not calling her," I muttered. I walked out into the hall and found Taurus, my Beta, waiting with a stack of reports. "Taurus, take my phone. Call Hannah. Tell her the Hollow King—her father-in-law—is checking to see if she got home safely."
