A girl was standing in front of the mirror, fixing her hair. Her beautiful eyes, fair complexion, and the happiness of going back to school after the vacation were clearly visible on her face.
Just then, her mother's voice called out, "Hurry up, dear. Your friend has been waiting for you for a long time."
"Yes, Mom," she replied as she came down the stairs. "Alright, Mom, I'm leaving."
"Have breakfast at least," her mother said.
"Mom, I'm getting late. I'll eat something at school," she said while quickly putting on her shoes.
Then she left the house.
"Oh, this girl," her mother said, placing a hand on her head.
She pressed the lift button, but the lift didn't open. From behind, a man's voice said, "The lift is out of order."
She quickly came down the stairs. Her forehead was wet with sweat.
"Sorry for being late, yaar. The lift was broken, so I came down by the stairs," she said, resting her hands on her knees. Taking a deep breath, she said to her friend Monica, "Leave everything and hurry, get on the bicycle," Monica said.
Li-Ting quickly sat on the bicycle. Momo was riding the bicycle when Li-Ting's eyes fell on the injury on her hand. She said to Momo, "How did you get this injury on your hand?"
"Nothing, yaar, it's just a small scratch," Momo replied.
"But it must be hurting. Show me your hand," Li-Ting said worriedly.
"No, it's nothing," Momo said, trying to change the subject.
Suddenly, Li-Ting grabbed Momo's hand. Because of the sudden pull, the bicycle lost balance and fell.
"Ouch, ouch," Li-Ting said as she looked at the wound on her knee. "You've been hurt really badly," Momo said nervously.
"What should I do now?" she asked.
"I've got an idea," she said happily. "I'll call my brother."
"Your brother?" Li-Ting asked in surprise. "When did he return from abroad?"
"He just came back yesterday. I'll call him," Momo said.
She went to call her brother and then noticed that Li-Ting's eyes had turned red from crying.
"Hey, why are you crying?" she said, trying to comfort Li-Ting.
"It hurts a lot," Li-Ting said, sobbing softly.
After a while, Li-Ting was sitting on a bench, quietly crying and looking at her wound. Suddenly, she felt someone brushing past her feet. She looked up and saw a boy staring at her. His sharp eyes, fair complexion, and neatly styled hair made him even more attractive. He looked around eighteen years old and very handsome.
"Brother, you're here?" Momo said.
Zhao, taking his eyes off Li, asked, "Who is she?"
Pointing toward Li, he said to Momo, "She's my friend. I told you that my friends are with me too."
"Oh yes," he said as it came back to him. "She's really badly hurt."
"Yes, and I'm not hurt at all," Momo replied.
"Brother, will you listen to one thing I say?" she said to Zhao.
Zhao said to Momo, "Yes, go ahead."
"Brother, will you take Li to the doctor? I have a very important class. May I go?" she said.
"Yes, you can," her brother replied.
"Alright then. You go, I'll take her," he said, scratching his neck.
"Okay, I'm leaving then. Go carefully and take care of Li," she said, sitting on her bicycle and waving her hand as she left.
He squatted down on the ground and started looking at Li's wound.
"Alright, stop crying now. Your eyes have turned red from all the crying."
"It hurts a lot," Li said, crying.
