Chapter 2 - Chapter : The World Beyond

Jimmy's POV

Days passed after my birth.

Or perhaps they only felt fast because my body was small and weak, unable to move as I wished. I couldn't speak. I couldn't walk. I could only observe.

But my mind was fully awake.

From the very beginning, something felt… strange.

At first, I thought it was just the confusion of rebirth. But the feeling didn't fade. Instead, it grew stronger with every passing moment.

The air around me felt different.

Not heavy. Not light.

Alive.

There was an unseen presence flowing through everything—through the palace walls, through the people who held me, even through my own body. I couldn't see it, yet I could feel it brushing against my senses again and again.

Slowly, a realization settled in my mind.

This world was not normal.

This was not a world bound by simple logic and science like my previous one.

It was a world where something beyond reason existed.

A world filled with magic.

I was often held in gentle arms, wrapped in warmth and comfort.

My mother.

Duchess Elinora Welton.

Her soft voice and caring gaze made me feel something I hadn't felt in my previous life—peace. Even though my mind carried the memories of another world, my heart responded instinctively to her presence.

So this is… family.

Standing beside her was a man whose presence alone made the room feel tense.

Tall. Broad. Powerful.

Duke Halfthōr Welton.

My father.

He didn't smile often, but whenever his eyes rested on me, they softened just slightly. His large hand would hover near my cradle, hesitant, as if afraid to touch something too fragile.

That was enough for me to understand.

He cared.

The palace never stayed quiet for long.

Nobles arrived one after another, dressed in elegant clothes. Knights stood proudly in polished armor. Some visitors wore robes instead—men and women whose eyes seemed sharper, deeper, as if they saw more than others.

Mages.

They all came to see me—the first heir of House Welton.

"Such a calm child."

"He doesn't cry much."

"There's something about his gaze…"

Their voices blended together, but their expressions did not escape me.

Some looked at me with admiration.

Others with curiosity.

And a few… with hidden intentions.

Even as an infant, I could feel it.

I was already part of a larger game.

Seems this life won't be peaceful either.

One night, when the palace had fallen silent, I lay alone in my cradle.

Moonlight streamed through the tall window, bathing the room in silver light. That unseen presence I had felt since birth suddenly became clearer—stronger.

It gathered around me.

Slowly.

Gently.

Without thinking, I reached out.

The moment I did, the air trembled.

The candle near my bed flickered violently before going out completely.

Darkness filled the room.

My breath caught.

I did that…?

I hadn't spoken. I hadn't moved more than a finger. Yet something inside me had reacted, responding to that invisible force as if it were natural.

As if it had always been part of me.

Magic.

I lay still, staring into the darkness, my heart racing—not with fear, but with resolve.

This world had given me a second life.

A noble birth.

And now, power beyond understanding.

A quiet promise formed within my mind.

This time… I will not live weak.
