Nora's POV
"Nora?" Brent bursts from the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his waist. "What happened?"
My palm presses against my skull as the throbbing pain slowly recedes. "A migraine just slammed into me from nowhere." I stand straighter, testing my balance. "I think it's passing."
Brent guides me away from the shattered glass covering the kitchen floor, then scoops up Princess and relocates her food bowl to the living room. "Sit," he commands, and I collapse onto the couch cushions. Something feels fundamentally wrong, like the world has shifted beneath my feet, but I cannot identify what troubles me.
I am secure in my apartment with my boyfriend. We both maintain stable careers, solid friendships, and genuine happiness in our shared life.
Everything is perfectly normal.
"You should call your sister."
"I refuse to disturb Lena. She's probably swamped with Elodie or caught up at the hospital."
