Chapter 53: The Direction of Enhancement

After outlining the plan and setting a check-up time, Ronin left them.

He had his own training to do.

After unlocking A-Rank Ninjutsu, he found the perfect auxiliary technique.

Earth Style: Weighted Boulder Jutsu.

This Jutsu increased the weight of a target, capable of petrifying enemies or crushing them.

The description stated it could increase weight by 20 to 50 times, cover a 10-meter radius, and duration correlated with Chakra output.

Ronin's idea was to have a Shadow Clone cast the Jutsu on him, creating an extreme gravity environment.

Under this pressure, he would perform the same training as Kurapika and Neon.

The key was controlling the Jutsu perfectly—heavy enough to train, light enough not to cause injury.

This process also honed his fine Chakra control.

First, reduce the output.

He formed seals, and the ground in front of him sank.

He continued holding the seals, lowering the Chakra flow, reducing the effect.

It went smoother than expected.

Once familiar with the sensation, he had the Shadow Clone cast it. Once the output stabilized, he slowly transferred the effect to his main body.

Earth-natured Chakra covered Ronin like heavy armor.

He didn't use the Sharingan. He maintained Ken.

With his current strength, he could maintain Ken for over 40 minutes.

Partly due to better control, partly due to increased capacity.

However, with a Shadow Clone active, he could only last 20 minutes.

The extreme weight made even lifting his arm difficult. He grabbed a shovel, coated it in Nen, and sliced into the rock like tofu.

Ten minutes later, he was drenched in sweat.

But he persisted. The clone followed him closely.

Twenty minutes was his limit. When the last drop of aura drained, he collapsed in the cave he had dug, panting.

He was exhausted but felt an indescribable thrill.

Finally, Ronin had an idea for his Hatsu.

Enhancement was the best combat affinity, yet Ronin had been treating it as a support for his Ninjutsu.

That felt backward.

While his "Ninja" ability was powerful, abandoning the advantage of Enhancement to solely support the Sharingan felt wasteful.

This was the Hunter world, not the Naruto world.

Enhancement had massive potential. If mastered, its power wouldn't lose to Ninjutsu.

Both Nen and Ninjutsu drew from his internal energy pool. The amount he released determined the power.

Currently, his Ninjutsu focused on the five basic elements.

In Nen terms, these elements (Fire, Water, Lightning, etc.) fell under Transmutation.

His Sharingan state was Specialist. As a Specialist, he couldn't use Transmutation at 100% efficiency.

This meant that for the same energy cost, his Enhancement punch should be at least 20% stronger than a Transmutation Ninjutsu.

This logic held up. Morena Pris confirmed that Specialists didn't have the typical affinity drop-off for adjacent categories, but they still had efficiency caps.

Ronin's Sharingan state was a Specialist ability that allowed him to use complex, multi-system techniques (Ninjsu) easily.

Just like Morena's "Contagion: Etude of Love" was a complex ability combining five systems.

However, regardless of the method, releasing the same amount of energy through a "Transmuted" Ninjutsu would naturally be weaker than a pure "Enhanced" punch for an Enhancer base.

Exceptions existed, like the Intermediate State, where energies fused for greater power.

But the conclusion remained: Ronin's Enhancement shouldn't just be support; it could be his trump card.

Gon's Jajanken: Rock could one-shot a Royal Guard (Pitou) when fully charged (and transformed).

Uvogin aimed to make his Big Bang Impact as strong as a nuclear warhead.

Netero enhanced speed to the extreme. His 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva was faster than anything, though its raw power per hit might be lower than a charged Jajanken.

But his Zero Hand—the ultimate move—was an Emission blast, not pure Enhancement.

Ronin's goal aligned with Uvogin and Gon: extreme attack power.

While Manipulators and Conjurers played 4D chess with rules, he wanted to end the fight with one hit.

That was the essence of Enhancement.

And the process of enhancing himself naturally increased his aura capacity and physical stats.

Simple and unadorned.

As for the Chakra capacity issue he worried about earlier, he decided to leave that to the S-Rank Yin Seal.
