Chapter 23 - System Shop Refresh — Manifesting a New Avatar

"Ding! Detection complete: Seele has defeated Ryomen Sukuna for the host. Reward: 5,000 points."

Hearing the system notification, a satisfied smile appeared on An Xora's face.

Sure enough—just as Ryomen Sukuna himself had stated in the original story—each of Sukuna's fingers contained an independent fragment of his consciousness. That meant every finger could trigger a separate system reward.

Previously, Seele defeating one-finger Sukuna had triggered one reward. This time, Dark Seele defeating three-finger Sukuna had triggered another.

One finger was worth 2,500 points. Three fingers totaled 7,500 points.

"Wait… something's off. Why didn't killing that Special Grade Cursed Womb trigger a reward?"

Suddenly, An Xora realized the discrepancy. During the juvenile detention center incident, aside from Sukuna, Seele had clearly also defeated a Special Grade cursed womb—so why hadn't that kill triggered a system reward?

"Ding! Because that Special Grade cursed womb was itself born from the power of Sukuna's finger, it is counted as the same reward as the Sukuna finger."

The system's explanation echoed in his mind.

"So cursed spirits spawned by Sukuna's fingers share the same reward as the finger itself…"

An Xora nodded.

If that was the case, then in theory, couldn't he collect all of Sukuna's fingers from the original plot, use each one to spawn a Special Grade cursed spirit, then have Seele defeat them—thereby cashing out Sukuna's rewards in advance?

In theory, it should work.

But after some thought, An Xora decided against it. After all, waiting until the antagonists gathered all of Sukuna's fingers and then harvesting Sukuna in one go would clearly be far more convenient.

"Alright, we've gotten all the points we're going to get this trip. Time to head back."

After informing Fushiguro Megumi and Kugisaki Nobara outside to carry the unconscious Itadori Yuji away, An Xora eagerly returned to the apartment with Seele.

Aside from the rain outside—which he had no interest in dealing with—there was another reason he didn't want to linger.

The discount section of the system shop was about to refresh.

Yes—ever since transmigrating to this world, manifesting Seele, clearing out the cursed spirit near his residence, defeating Gojo Satoru, officially entering the jujutsu world, sweeping cursed spirits for nearly ten days using the jujutsu intelligence network, and then waiting half a month for the juvenile detention center incident—

The monthly system shop refresh was now only a few hours away.

By evening, a new batch of discounted items would appear.

Before that, An Xora needed to tally up his current points.

"10,000 points from the starter pack. After manifesting Seele, 1,100 remained. About 300 points per day on average from sweeping cursed spirits over a month. Three Sukuna fingers plus the Special Grade cursed spirit from the assessment—four reward triggers totaling 10,000 points. Add in miscellaneous points from everyday passive actions…"

"That makes 23,500 points total."

"Even if the system shop doesn't refresh anything particularly good this time, 23,500 points are more than enough to create a solid new avatar."

Thinking this, An Xora sat on the bed in the apartment and pulled Seele into his arms, holding her small, delicate body close.

"Seele, tonight you're going to have a new companion. Are you happy?"

"Yes. Seele is very happy."

Nestled in his arms, Seele smiled and nodded.

"Oh? Is it because there'll be someone to share the burden, so you won't have to earn points alone every day?"

"No," Seele replied softly.

"It's because if there's another companion, An Xora-ge will be happier."

As she spoke, a hint of guilt surfaced in her expression, her tone growing subdued.

"Back then, Seele promised that An Xora-ge would be able to buy anything he liked, eat whatever he wanted, live in a bigger house, and enjoy a better life."

"But now An Xora-ge still has to live in this small apartment… Seele went to see the big houses in central Tokyo. If we want to buy one, it might still take some time…"

"I'm sorry, An Xora-ge. Seele isn't working hard enough. Even with a new companion coming, you still have to live here… Is Seele useless?"

Feeling the girl's low spirits, An Xora gently patted her head.

"There's no rush about the house. This apartment is quite comfortable, actually. But how about this—I'll make a promise with you."

"When Seele saves up enough to buy a new home, I'll give you a reward. How about that?"

"A reward?"

Seele looked up curiously.

An Xora leaned in and whispered something into her ear.

In an instant, Seele's cheeks flushed crimson, her eyes darting away as she lowered her head in embarrassment.

"I-I see… Seele will definitely work hard…"

...

A few hours passed just like that.

Inside the apartment, An Xora sat in the living room with his eyes closed. At his request, Seele leaned against him, serving as his personal—human-shaped—hug pillow.

One with excellent tactile quality.

"There are three minutes left."

Opening the system shop interface, An Xora opened his eyes and stared intently at the countdown timer in the discount section at the top of the screen.

Seconds ticked by.

Finally, the countdown hit zero, and three new items appeared in the discount section.

[Control Devil Authority] (50% off): 3,000 points[Herrscher of Binding Authority] (30% off): 7,000 points[Spirit Whisper Technique] (70% off): 3,000 points

"The Control Devil's authority… that's from the Chainsaw Man universe, right? The Herrscher of Binding—that one's familiar. It's from the Honkai series, and ridiculously strong."

"As for Spirit Whisper… that's also from the Honkai series, but from Star Rail. Kafka's ability. No wonder it's priced on the same tier as Herrscher authorities."

Looking at the refreshed discount items, An Xora was extremely satisfied and immediately purchased all three.

The Herrscher of Binding didn't need explanation—an absurdly powerful authority, easily among the strongest Herrscher abilities judging by canon. Even at only 30% off, it was absolutely worth buying.

Spirit Whisper went without saying. In a universe where battles could wipe out planets or even entire star systems, it still held a place. In the jujutsu world, An Xora genuinely couldn't think of anyone who could resist Kafka's signature technique.

As for the Control Devil authority—although it was the cheapest among the three, An Xora considered it the most crucial.

Because the avatar he was about to manifest was deeply tied to that power.

"System," An Xora asked,

"if I manifest an avatar based on my memories, and that character's race isn't human—will the manifested avatar retain that race?"

"Ding! If a manifested avatar belongs to a special race, it will retain that racial characteristic after manifestation. This will be treated as a special ability—automatically adapted to fit the world's system, similar to abilities sold in the system shop—and will require additional points."

Hearing the system's explanation, An Xora slowly nodded.

"In that case…"

"System—manifest the avatar."
