"Kael!" Erina screamed
"I'm here aunt" Kael replied
"Are you okay" Erina asked
"Yeah, I'm f…" before he could complete the statement he slammed into the ground then the sky lit up, present in the sky was a rift pouring out a ton of tempest will into the atmosphere only visible by tempest will wielders. Then an incredible pain suddenly erupted in Kael's body, he felt his heartbeat increasing, he started sweating profusely. He tried to bear the pain by clenching his jaw together but it was so immense that he started screaming.
"AUNT ERINA! HELP ME!" Kael screamed. "Kael!" she too also screamed but clenched her jaw and crawled towards Kael despite the invisible pressure pushing towards the ground.
" I'm here Kael" she hugged Kael. "Aaaargh!" many other people screamed, it seemed the whole of the Nimbra village in which Kael and Erina lived in was experiencing this unnatural phenomenon.
Boom!Baam! Buildings crumbled under the invisible pressure and unluckily for Kael and Erina, their own building also collapsed. It was a 10 feet fall from the balcony to the ground. As they fell Erina never left Kael, hugging him as hard as she could. She was scared too but she had to be strong for Kael. They hit the ground hard which made Kael cough up blood, Erina on the other hand was badly bruised as the falling rubble had hit her in the head and blood began to ooze out.
Kael kept screaming due to the unimaginable pain, many other buildings were also collapsing as the screams of the people of Nimbra echoes through the streets of the villages. Some people had already been quiet after screaming for a long time, silencing them forever but Kael and Erina stood strong.
"Why is this happening to us' Kael thought. Ever since Kael parents died, he had felt so empty, inheriting nothing from his parents. His aunt Erina had came into his life and lit it up. She took away the feeling of emptiness from his life, acted like his mother, took care of his wants and needs. He had some little arguments with her but she still meant the world to him. Seeing her hurt like this but still standing left a deep wound his heart but why would anyone want to attack Nimbra, it was a peace loving village which was void of criminal activities. Kael wasn't thinking straight as he now felt a more intense pain. The sky lit up even brighter and more Tempest will seeped into the atmosphere. Soon Kael could feel the tempest will forcefully entering his body and intensifying the pain. He felt his mind going blank and soon he passed out.
"GUH!" Kael gasped for air greedily as he woke up from his nightmare that turned to reality. He then grimaced and noticed a scar like tattoo on his right shoulder. It was an intricate and abstract tattoo occupying the whole of his right shoulder.
"Aunt Erina, we survived that horrifying experience" Kael said as he tried to celebrate a little while reaching for Erina's arm but something felt different, it was stiff and cold. "A-a-a-unt Erina " Kael stuttered as he realized the horrifying truth. Erina was dead.
"No,no,no,no, Aunt Erina" Kael repeated as he grabbed Aunt Erina's lifeless body. With the look on her face she died crying while bearing the pain till the end.
" You promised Aunt, you promised to never leave me no matter what, you promised" Kael repeated as he started to cry reminiscing a stupid promise he made with Erina when he first met her.
"Why did you leave me like this, I'm broken without you " Kael grabbed Aunt Erina's body and hugged it dearly. He kept on crying and ranting. He was broken and Aunt was not hear to heal as she always did, she was gone forever and there was nothing he could do. The Tempest will had overloaded her body forcefully activating her non-existent flaw since she never awakened her tempest attribute. It was a death incomprehensible to Kael.
" why did I survive " he too underwent the same terrifying pain but why did he survive.
"maybe someone else survived" Kael placed Erina's body gently on the ground down before Rushing into the village to search for any survivor like him but what welcomed him was countless numbers of corpse scattered in different places of the village. Everyone was dead, even Reyner had died too. Kael realized that he was the sole survivor of such an outcome. He couldn't cry anymore, what good will that bring. He say down on the pile of rubble around him, he looked at the place he had once called home, the beautiful village of Nimbra had now been turned into the remains of war. Buildings crumbled with the people living in them being crushed to death alongside it. The corpse of people littered the streets as the air was now polluted with both dust which seemed not to settle and the malodorous smell of rotting bodies. Immediately the smell hit Kael's nostrils, he gagged before throwing up instantly. He wiped with his cloth sleeves before covering his nose with his palm. He rushed back to where he left Erina's body. He looked at it one more time remembering the blissful moments he had enjoyed with her. He then moved about looking for any piece of wood he could find and when he found enough he arranged them up into a wooden altar like figure. He then placed Erina's body on it, he placed her hands on her belly softly which looked like she was sleeping. He took off the pendant she was wearing which contained a photo of her and Kael and put it in his pockets . He then placed some dry leaves and grasses beneath the altar
"Goodbye Aunt Erina, I promise to find who did this to you and make them pay. I promise" Kael uttered his final word to Erina before setting her body ablaze with a matchbox he found.
Erina was gone, leaving Kael once again alone in this world.
