The silence of the darkness and the rhythmic sound of breathing permeating the night caused Julian Sterling to swallow audibly, a nervous gulp in the quiet. It seemed as though Ethan Caldwell had detected that faint sound, sitting beside the bed, he gently rubbed Julian's hair, which was already slick with perspiration.
"Weren't you acting quite bold in the beginning? You dared to get into a stranger's car all by yourself, didn't you? What is the matter, why are you suddenly afraid now?"
"Hic..." Julian began to play the victim card once again. He blinked rapidly, straining to squeeze out a few crocodile tears to appear sufficiently pitiful, and then whined coquettishly to Ethan: "I know I was wrong. Hubby, oh hubby, won't you let me off the hook just this once?"
