Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: The Classic Red and Blue Duo – Nuwa and Fuxi

"Did Vya have a good time these past days?"

Elysia cupped Vya's little face, studying her carefully. "Let this big sister take a good look, have you gotten thinner…"

Vya blinked, a bright smile blooming on her face.

"Mm! Vya was very happy there! Vya even helped Sister Aponia with cooking! And Brother Kalpas came to the sanatorium too…"

Vya chattered to Elysia about everything that had happened recently.

"Hmm… as long as Vya is happy~"

Elysia ruffled Vya's hair.

A little while later, Elysia suddenly seemed to remember something and pulled out her phone. "…I have time to contact everyone, let's see who's free and arrange a get-together~"

Vya immediately looked up, her eyes sparkling. "Really? Can we invite Sister Eden? Vya hasn't seen her for so long! Last time she said she'd make Vya a new dress…"

Elysia's finger, swiping across the phone screen, paused for a moment, her expression tinged with slight regret. "Well… Eden is preparing for her tour right now, she probably can't spare the time."

"But we can ask Sakura and Rin, they should be free."

"Mm, mm! Whatever Sister says!"

It had already been so long since Eden promised to make Vya clothes.

(„• ֊ •„)੭

The same went for the sisters Sakura and Rin…

After returning to MOTH, Vya went to see Mobius as usual.

Under Mobius's questioning, it was confirmed that Vya was not the one who dealt with the fifth Herrscher.

So what exactly happened? It was indeed a question worth pondering.

"Sister Mobius, is there anything else?"

Vya asked.

Even though Mobius started interrogating her about this and that the moment she saw her.

Vya was still very happy.

After all, it had been a long time since she'd seen Sister Mobius too.

"Nothing. Go play."

Mobius waved her hand, her gaze returning to the microscope.

"Okay! Goodbye, Sister Mobius!"

"And goodbye, Sister Klein!"

Vya ran off with a laugh.

Startled awake, Klein drowsily lifted her head. "Huh? Goodbye!"

Before she could finish, her head slumped back into the crook of her arm.

Mobius set down her work and called up the research data on her computer.

The screen displayed two sets of complex genetic sequence comparisons, labeled [Siam Deva] and [Maha Deva].

Recently, she had made some progress regarding the two Honkai beast corpses Vya transformed into.

The two Honkai beasts had similar but distinctly different genetics, specifically in form and ability.

More importantly, the genes of the little white cat Vya transformed into while pursuing the Wind Herrscher—later named [Siam Deva]—exhibited an inhibitory effect on most other genes.

This was something Mobius discovered while attempting to fuse the genes of two completely different Honkai beasts.

Introducing the gene sequence fragment from [Siam Deva] into both sets of genes allowed the two Honkai beast genes to fuse.

For now, Mobius was the only one aware of this research finding. Its ultimate significance, of course, went without saying.

It wasn't just about the concept of new artificial Honkai beasts, or the fusion of multiple Honkai beast genes. What if the Honkai beast was replaced with a human?

…The idea of turning a human into a Honkai beast might actually be possible.

It seemed Vya really was a treasure in every sense of the word.

Mobius suddenly remembered something.

"Klein?"

Mobius called out.

"Here! What is it, Doctor?"

Klein jolted upright, red marks from her arm still pressed onto her cheek.

"Aren't those two new assistants supposed to come today?"

"Yes, that's right."

Klein checked the time. "According to the notice, they should arrive in half an hour."

"It's almost time. Go receive them."

"Yes, Doctor."

After replying, Klein rubbed her eyes, straightened her uniform, and left.

Meanwhile.

Two brunette girls were walking along. Upon closer look, their faces were nearly identical.

Their attire was similar too; they must be twins.

"Um… Fuxi, shouldn't we have come this early…"

said the girl with a lock of red hair on her right side.

"Weren't you the one who was all nervous and insisted on coming an hour early? Saying we needed to make a good impression on the Doctor?"

The one called Fuxi had a lock of blue hair on her left side.

"Ahaha… well, it is Doctor Mobius after all…"

Fuxi sighed. "Alright, Nuwa, let's just ask someone for directions."

"Okay, let's hurry."

As they were talking, they suddenly saw a little white-haired girl come bouncing around the corner of the corridor, humming a tuneless song.

Nuwa's eyes lit up. "Hey, there's a kid. Let's ask her."

Nuwa tugged on Fuxi's sleeve.

"You think she'll know?"

Fuxi said.

"Maybe! Come on, let's go!"

Seeing how lively she was within the base, she was probably someone's child or something…

But shouldn't a kid her age be in school?

"Little miss, wait!"

Nuwa waved at Vya and called out.

The happy little Vya turned and saw the two sisters.

One red, one blue—such a classic color scheme.

"Hmm? What is it, sisters?"

Vya came over to them and asked.

"It's like this, hello! We're new researchers, looking for Doctor Mobius. Do you know where her laboratory is?"

"Oh, Sister Mobius? Of course Vya knows!"

The little girl said with a smile.

"Really?"

Nuwa looked at Fuxi delightedly. "See? I told you this little miss might know!"

Fuxi politely nodded to Vya. "Then, could we trouble you to take us there?"

"Of course! Sisters, follow Vya!"

The little girl smiled and walked ahead to lead the way.

On the way, Nuwa asked curiously:

"Little miss, your name is Vya, right?"

"That's right, I'm Vya. What about you, sisters?"

"I'm Nuwa, hehe… and this is my younger sister, Fuxi."

Nuwa introduced them, only to get her arm swatted by Fuxi immediately after.

"I'm the older sister."

Fuxi corrected.

"No, you're not! We were born on the same day!" Nuwa protested.

Though she didn't want to admit it, Fuxi really was the older sister.

Watching them bicker, Vya giggled. "Sister Nuwa and Sister Fuxi, Vya will remember!"

"We're twins, you know."

Nuwa said proudly. "Little Vya, can you tell any differences between us?"

"Hmm… the blue one and the red one."

Vya pointed at Fuxi and Nuwa respectively.

"Wow, little Vya is so smart! Good job!"

Nuwa said with a laugh.

"Very impressive."

Fuxi also commented.

Vya smiled. It was such a simple thing, really.

Although Vya could directly see the light surrounding the two, the correct way to tell them apart was by the colored locks in their hair.

Fuxi's was blue-black, Nuwa's was crimson-red.
