The bus started the second part of the journey with a low hum. Most of the students were either eating and chatting excitedly about getting to our destination.
Charlotte was finishing up her food while mine remained barely untouched. My eyes had briefly met Ms. Coraline's while I was boarding the bus. She flashed me a smile and said nothing else.
I saw Madeleine and Isadora come out of the restroom just as our bus pulled out of the curb. Isadora was all cheerful. But what caught my attention was the faint mark that was beginning to bloom on her neck.
"They've been hooking up," Charlotte said, making me turn towards her with a frown.
"They have?"
"I'm more surprised you didn't know. Before her relationship with Mary, Ms. Duval used to get around. If you know what I mean. But she never let anyone come really close, it was all physical. At least until Mary came along."
