Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 : The Baby who stole Mana from the Mother

evident in his voice. Austin, on the other hand, had his mind working overtime trying to comprehend, "What are these mortals talking about? Swordsmanship? Alchemy? I can make divine pills by folding herbs into my palms, I taught Valen swordsmanship, I can cut higher gods with my intent, and why was I reborn? Didn't I die?"

The midwife, Marella, finally interjected. "He didn't cry. In the rare cases I have seen, babies born magically gifted often subconsciously absorb mana in the womb. When born to non-cultivators, the mothers usually die. These children often show a semblance of self-awareness. I am truly surprised, and he seems to possess significantly more mana than even a gifted newborn."

The parents' expressions turned solemn, and the mother finally broke the silence. "So that's why I have been craving vitality pills so much. I had to sell less than half. I guess he will become an alchemist then." She laughed lightly, brushing off the midwife's solemn warning. "Since he's gifted, I will also teach him swordsmanship. "Elena glared at her husband, but he did not meet her eyes."Okay, he will become both a swordsman and an alchemist then," he finally conceded. Elena turned to the midwife. "So do we pay the usual?" "No need. I know it is really hard for both of you, especially with the ongoing issues. Just some vitality pills are enough."

After everything was done, the couple took a carriage outside the city and got off and walked the rest of the way to a small town in the city, slept in an inn, and the next day finally went home. When they arrived, two children, a boy nine years old, identical to the father, and the girl identical to the mother, only flowing black silky hair differentiating their beautiful sculpted faces, waited eagerly and jumped at them the moment they opened the door.

"This little brother is handsome, but has mama's hair," The girl exclaimed, as if jealous of her little brother's hair. "He looks prettier than you, Mira," her brother teased her as she pouted."Now, now, let's all celebrate, and you two will teach him alchemy, and I will teach him swordsmanship." The Father, finally losing his patience, scolded the two siblings.
