Chapter 26 - 26. It’s very sweet

Shubham said, "I'll be back in a moment," and got out of the car. He walked to a nearby bakery shop.

After a short while, he came back carrying many boxes in his hands.

It looked as if he had packed the entire shop for Nidhi.

As soon as Shubham sat in the car, Nidhi asked in surprise,

"What is all this?"

"You haven't eaten anything since afternoon. I didn't know what you like, so I bought everything," Shubham said.

He leaned forward and handed her a bottle of milkshake.

Nidhi replied softly,

"I'm not hungry."

"Drink it quietly," Shubham said firmly and forced the milkshake into her hands.

Nidhi had no choice but to drink it.

After taking a few sips, she made a face and said,

"It's very sweet."

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Alok and Maya fixed their appearance and reached Dr. Keshav's cabin.

"Dr. Keshav, what happened? Are the arrangements done?" Maya asked.

"No. Your mother's transfer has been cancelled," Raghav replied coldly.

He was already busy with his work. He never liked Alok and Maya, so he answered without even looking at them.

"What are you saying? We don't want her to stay here," Maya said anxiously.

Hearing this, Keshav looked at them angrily.

He knew very well that they were doing all this because of Nidhi.

"Considering her condition, she should stay in this hospital," Keshav replied.

"Doctor Keshav, you are not understanding. We don't have any other option. We are always worried about our mother," Alok said.

"We keep thinking whether someone is disturbing her or if her recovery is going well."

"Are you talking about Nidhi?" Keshav asked while looking at them.

He knew how much Nidhi had done for the Mehra family, and what she got in return.

Alok and Maya fell silent and looked at each other.

They had no answer.

Keshav looked at them coldly and said angrily,

"If you really cared about her life, you would have come when the nurse called you. But you are coming now!"

"W-Well… actually, we had some urgent work," Maya said, stammering.

"Fine. I will sign the transfer papers," Keshav said.

"But you should also know that no other hospital has medical resources like this one.

I shouldn't say this, but if you take Kamna ji from here, she may not survive even one week."

Hearing this, Alok and Maya looked at each other nervously.

"Is there no other way to keep her alive?" Alok asked hesitantly.

"There is one way," Keshav said.

"Please tell me, Doctor. I'm listening," Alok said quickly.

"There is a new medicine in the market that can save her life," Keshav said.

"Yes, yes, tell me quickly. I'll note down the name right now," Alok said and took out a pen and paper.

"It can only be bought from the black market. One pill costs around one lakh rupees.

She has to take it twice a day for three months. After that, we can do her surgery," Keshav explained.

"What? One pill costs one lakh?"

Alok's face turned pale.

"In three months, that's almost two crores!"

He looked at Maya in shock.

"Are medicines this expensive nowadays?"

"It's made from very rare ingredients. That's why it's costly," Keshav replied.

"If that's the case, we won't transfer our mother," Alok said quickly.

"You take care of her here. You understand her condition better than anyone else."

Keshav felt like laughing inside after seeing their condition.

He was silent only because of Nidhi. Otherwise, he would have thrown them out long ago.

The truth was that Alok and Maya needed Kamna ji alive only because she still owned 30% of the company shares, worth nearly 30 crores.

According to her will, if something happened to her, all those shares would go to Nidhi.

That's why it was very important for Kamna ji to recover, so she could change her will and transfer everything to Ashna.

They were doing all this for their daughter.

They didn't care about Kamna ji at all.

What they didn't know was that Nidhi had always managed the entire business only for her grandmother.

Alok and Maya believed they had achieved everything on their own.

Alok took out the bank card that he had earlier tried to give Nidhi and placed it in front of Raghav.

Seeing this, Keshav became even angrier.

"Mr. Mehra, what are you doing?" he asked sharply.

"Doctor Keshav, please don't misunderstand us. This is just a small token of appreciation," Alok said.

"We know how hard you work. You can use this money."

"Yes, Doctor, please keep it," Maya added.

Keshav looked at them coldly and said,

"You can leave now. I don't need any appreciation from you."

"Oh, Doctor, don't get angry," Maya tried to say more, but Alok stopped her.

Smiling awkwardly, he said,

"Alright, we're leaving. But if you ever need anything, you can contact me anytime."

Keshav was extremely angry at their behavior.

He was controlling himself only because of Nidhi.

Outside the cabin, Maya said,

"Doctor Keshav is so short-tempered."

"He is a genius doctor and the heir of a very rich family. It's natural for him to be like this," Alok replied.

"And remember, he said someone special asked him to take care of mom.

I think that person must be from the Mittal family."

"Yes, who else could it be?" Maya nodded.

"We should thank them."

But deep inside, Alok was furious that they couldn't move Kamna ji from this hospital.

Suddenly, Maya remembered something.

"As far as I know, this floor is very expensive. This is the VIP floor, and the other one is VVIP.

Even rich people can't easily afford this.

Then how did Nidhi and her family get a room here?

She doesn't even know anyone."

"Forget all this and focus on mom," Alok said seriously.

"Her recovery is very important for us.

We have to get those shares transferred at any cost.

Once that's done, we'll deal with Nidhi later."

They were still talking when they suddenly heard Ashna's voice.

She had arrived there with Lokesh Mittal.

"Ashna? You're here?"

Both of them asked in shock
