Chapter 35 - CHAPTER 35

"You killed him… don't you feel any regret?" Ivan said with a breaking voice.

The boy in front of him stood normally without panicking, while he himself was panicking because of the blood lying on the floor. He couldn't look at the body; he didn't have the courage. But for Ryaan, it was nothing new. He stood tall, confident, and extremely steady.

"So what? This punk didn't deserve to live. He is garbage for society. These types of monsters don't deserve to take a breath on earth. They eat food, waste our water… they are useless, a burden on humanity," Ryaan expressed. He had no regret, even though he had a reason to defend himself in any way.

He didn't stop there.

He covered his hand with Ivan's handkerchief and wrapped his wounded palm where the blood flowed from the cut caused by the broken bottle Ryaan used to beat the man.

"Do you know the water level is going down every year?" he added in his cold presence, giving more tension to Ivan. "These kinds of people live here, eat, drink, and enjoy… they commit crimes and roam freely. Who will punish them? Nature? Or God? They won't. No one comes forward to punish them for their sins. It's on me."

"I have to clean the world for a better future."

He leaned closer to Ivan. Ivan felt tightened; his heart was pounding. He was starting to be afraid of Ryaan. He already knew Ryaan wasn't a normal boy, but today's incident turned it into truth.

"I will erase every criminal one day… I promised myself."

"Killing criminals doesn't make you less than them. You are just like them. Face is different, but the work is the same. It will take you to a cell… be afraid of the law."

"Ohh… I'm just a schoolboy. Who will doubt me? And the law? That… can do nothing to me."

"You're very confident," Ivan asked straight, as if giving him a challenge that if he kept doing this, one day they would probably catch him. After all, no one can escape the law's hand. They are more powerful, and a boy like Ryaan couldn't win against them.

"Of course I am," Ryaan smirked. "Let's go. I'm done with my job already. Tomorrow is the test. I have prepared for it."

What are you, Ryaan? Ivan asked in his thoughts. What is Ryaan really? Why does he behave like this? Did his childhood trauma turn him into a monster, or is there something deeper hidden inside Ryaan?

Ryaan felt nothing. He had no feelings… no emotions… no regret. There was no regret shown in his eyes when Ivan looked straight into them. They were empty only empty. He finished his job and took his leave back home.

Ivan followed him. He turned back, glanced at the house, then with suspicious eyes stared at Ryaan. Ryaan walked casually as if it was normal for him… as if killing was normal. The thing he did was so normal, as if he had already done this before, or it seriously didn't mean anything to him.
