Chapter 10 - 10. Thunder Element's preferential treatment

When Tang Miao arrived at the elite class, he noticed that the students in the class had changed again. There were fewer familiar faces and more new ones.

As soon as he sat down, the little fox, Dongfang Hui, came and sat next to him.

Seeing her excited expression, Tang Miao asked, puzzled, "Did you eat bee poop or something? Why are you so happy?"

Dongfang Hui, who had just been beaming, instantly turned pale after hearing Tang Miao's words!

"It's been a whole summer, and you're still just as annoying?"

Tang Miao smiled and then said, "Isn't this just my way of getting Miss Dongfang's attention?"

They had known each other for half a year, and Dongfang Hui wasn't stupid; she wouldn't believe what Tang Miao said. Tang Miao had flirted with the homeroom teacher a few times, but he had always treated her as just a classmate!

She pouted her small lips and huffed lightly, "How come I haven't noticed?"

She clearly looked like a flirtatious vixen but tried to act aloof, which Tang Miao found a bit boring. He then asked, "Is there something you need?"

Seeing Tang Miao ask, Dongfang Hui happily replied, "My elementary magic has reached the second level!"

Tang Miao had thought this girl had finally understood and was making a move. He had even planned where they would go for a date that evening, but it turned out... "That's it?"

Dongfang Hui was displeased with Tang Miao's reaction and said, "What do you mean?! Isn't this enough?"

Tang Miao shook his head and said nothing. After all, he was already close to reaching the realm of an intermediate mage!

Dongfang Hui was already a competitive girl, and the reason she wanted to surpass Tang Miao was because only the top student from each region had a chance to enter the most prestigious academy in the Imperial Capital.

So, to get a better cultivation environment and resources, she had to work hard.

But Tang Miao's attitude made her very unhappy. She felt looked down upon!

Dongfang Hui's pride was so disregarded that she said, somewhat angrily, "Are you looking down on me? Do you dare to have a match!?"

"Isn't magic dueling forbidden for those under eighteen?"

"You..."

Dongfang Hui was somewhat speechless. She huffed a few times and then left, moving to another seat.

Tang Miao looked at Nan Li, who was next to him and one of the top ten students in this elite class. He asked, puzzled, "This guy always wants to surpass me. Do you know why?"

Nan Li and Tang Miao had a decent relationship. Hearing what Tang Miao said, he explained, "You don't mean you don't know about the Imperial Capital Academy recruiting students, do you?"

"I don't know."

Tang Miao had no intention of going to the Imperial Capital at all, so why would he care about this?

After Nan Li explained the Imperial Capital Academy's recruitment, Tang Miao finally understood why this girl had always wanted to surpass him after he had crushed her... So it was because of this!

"So that's how it is."

Knowing the situation was even worse than not knowing. After all, Tang Miao had merely thought it was his aura that had given the girl a competitive spirit, and perhaps they could even progress further later... or something.

But now it seemed that wasn't the case. She was just afraid he would take her spot... All that anticipation for nothing. How could he not be disappointed?

Indeed, to gain a girl's admiration, without some impressive achievements, everything is fake!

Just then, the homeroom teacher, Li Li, walked in. She then looked at everyone and said, "Classmates, this is our fourth semester. Everyone's strength has improved quite a bit, but there's still a year and a half until you graduate. If you want to go to a good academy, then you'll have to work hard during this year and a half."

"..."

After Li Li finished her encouragement and pressure, she began to teach today's lesson.

The lesson was nothing more than familiarizing themselves with various known demons, how to deal with them, and so on... Tang Miao had always had little interest in theoretical classes. He was either cultivating or sleeping. During release classes, he would practice control. Although he had innate talent, after his Stardust transformed into a Nebula, he still had to accumulate Star Seeds. So, practicing when he had nothing else to do wasn't a bad thing.

Of course, he was also quite hard to satisfy; the time for meditation was simply too little... After the morning classes ended, Tang Miao stopped Dongfang Hui, who was about to leave. Although many people in the class noticed, these two's drama was not something they could interfere with.

After watching everyone leave one after another, Dongfang Hui finally spoke, "Why did you stop me?"

"You want to apply to the Imperial Capital Academy?" Tang Miao didn't beat around the bush and asked directly.

Dongfang Hui nodded, not denying it, and then confidently said, "I will definitely surpass you by the time we graduate!"

Tang Miao smiled and scoffed, "I'm already about to reach level three. Where do you get that confidence?"

"What?!"

She was somewhat surprised but showed no doubt. Because she didn't think Tang Miao would lie to her... And, it seemed there was no need to, right?

Although she felt very disappointed, Dongfang Hui still insisted, "So what? There's still a year and a half. I will definitely surpass you."

Tang Miao smiled, looking playfully at the girl who was fighting for her dream, and said, "How about this, I'll give you a chance. You sleep with me for one night, and I'll give you my spot?"

Upon hearing this, Dongfang Hui clenched her fist and punched directly: "Go to hell!"

Tang Miao easily dodged and then retreated a few steps.

At this moment, Dongfang Hui had already decided to use magic!

Upon seeing this, Tang Miao quickly said, "Stop, stop, stop! I was just kidding!"

Seeing Dongfang Hui look at him warily, Tang Miao shrugged and said, "I'm not planning to leave Magic City. I'm going to Pearl Academy, so I won't be competing with you for it. Therefore, you don't need to compete with me all day long."

Dongfang Hui then lowered her guard, and somewhat disbelievingly said, "You mean you're not going to Imperial Capital Academy?"

Tang Miao nodded and added, "I've never intended to leave Magic City."

Dongfang Hui then said, "Then why don't you just go and apply to Pearl Academy directly?"

"Please, I'm just an elementary mage. What am I going to apply for?" Tang Miao did want to go to Pearl Academy, after all, the resources there certainly wouldn't be worse than here!

However, he was only at the elementary level now; he had no chance of getting in.

"Don't you know that Pearl Academy's recruitment for Lightning-element students doesn't consider their level?" Dongfang Hui stared at Tang Miao and said softly.

"What did you say?!"

Upon hearing this, Tang Miao was stunned, then looked at Dongfang Hui with some shock, disbelievingly saying, "Is that true!?"
