Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: An Emperor's Fist

Chapter 66: An Emperor's Fist

Hearing it was Kaido of the Beasts, Sengoku couldn't stay seated. He'd never fought Kaido directly, but back during the war with the Rocks Pirates, he'd seen the young Kaido. Even then, the man had left a deep, ominous impression.

The aura he exuded was terrifying even in his youth. The Marines had flagged him as an extremely dangerous figure, a target for elimination. But during the God Valley Incident that wiped out the Rocks Pirates, Kaido had escaped.

As predicted, Kaido's growth had been uncontrollable. His strength seemed to increase daily. Marines sent to eliminate him and pirates who challenged him fell in batches, yet Kaido remained, unshaken.

His body was a monster. Thick-skinned and incredibly durable. Magma couldn't burn him, lasers couldn't pierce him, ice couldn't freeze him. He possessed terrifying regenerative abilities. Very few had ever left a permanent scar on Kaido.

Now named one of the Four Emperors, he was among the Navy's most formidable enemies.

"I understand. I'll dispatch an Admiral immediately. Satoru... you have to hold on."

Sengoku couldn't help but pray for Satoru. He believed in the boy's strength, but his opponent was Kaido of the Beasts. A man you fought with 120% of your focus, or you died.

He immediately dialed Kizaru's private Den Den Mushi line. All three Admirals and Garp were in the New World, but the one who could reach G-8 fastest was undoubtedly Kizaru.

"Moshi moshi, this is Borsalino~"

"Kizaru! Get to Marine Base G-8 immediately, at maximum speed!"

The gravity in Sengoku's voice wiped the usual laziness from Kizaru's face.

"G-8 base? That's the kid Satoru's territory, isn't it? With his strength, he shouldn't need support. Is there a powerful enemy there?"

Kizaru remembered Satoru well. The boy had ridden on his ship to G-8.

"Kaido of the Beasts has appeared there. Satoru is no match for him. I need you to provide support."

Hearing Kaido's name, a flicker of surprise crossed Kizaru's face. He hadn't expected to face a Yonko so soon. To be honest, he was a little intrigued. Rumors swirled on the seas: were the Four Emperors stronger than the Admirals? Kizaru wanted to test that theory himself.

"Okay, I understand. I'll head over as soon as I finish with the pirates in front of me."

He hung up and looked at the pirate ship engaging his warship. He turned into a stream of golden light and shot into the air.

"Originally, I was going to take my time with you~ pass the day. But I have more important business now. So please, just die.

Yasakani no Magatama."

Kizaru's body shone with blinding light, becoming a miniature sun. Countless beams of light shot out, raining down on the pirate ship.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!

In seconds, the pirate ship was erased from the sea.

The Marines on his warship stared, stunned. Those who'd served under Kizaru the longest rarely saw him attack with such direct, overwhelming force.

"You continue to suppress the pirates in this sector. I have another mission."

With that, Kizaru turned into a streak of light and vanished over the horizon, moving faster than their eyes could follow.

Back at G-8, Satoru and Kaido had mutually withdrawn their Conqueror's Haki, the silent clash ending in a tense truce.

"Black Flash."

Satoru appeared in front of Kaido without warning and threw a punch crackling with black-red energy.

Kaido simply coated the spot with Armament Haki and took the hit head-on.

BANG!

The impact echoed, but Kaido didn't budge an inch. It was the first time Black Flash had failed to send its target flying. Even Zephyr had been knocked back.

Kaido hadn't purely tanked it; he'd used Haki defense. But he was the first to take Black Flash head-on and remain completely steady.

"That... hurt, you little brat."

Kaido's hot, alcoholic breath washed over Satoru. Though he hadn't moved, Kaido had felt pain. It made the cells in his body sing with a strange joy. He hadn't expected to feel this from a child.

"I took one of your punches. Now you take one of mine."

Before Satoru could react, Kaido's fist was already swinging. Despite his massive size, his speed was terrifying.

In a blink, the fist was in front of Satoru's face.

The next instant, Satoru was launched like a cannonball.

But Kaido frowned. He'd felt something strange. He couldn't describe it. He looked at his fist, clenching it a few times. The impact hadn't felt... solid.

He sensed movement in the distance. Satoru was standing there, completely unharmed.

Kaido's confusion deepened. It wasn't an illusion. He hadn't hit him. No one took his punch and stayed unharmed. The only explanation was that his fist hadn't connected.

"Your attack is fast, Kaido," Satoru's voice carried across the ruined plaza. "But unfortunately, an attack like that can't touch me."

There was a hint of pain in Satoru's expression, but not from injury. It was for the painstakingly constructed base framework now lying in ruins around them.
