Kakashi clutched his chest, pupils trembling with fear, gasping for breath, cold sweat drenching him.
If he hadn't been sitting he'd have collapsed.
"What's wrong, Kakashi?" Sasuke noticed, immediately offering a canteen.
"Kakashi-sensei, are you sick?"
Naruto likewise fished a ration pill from his pouch, sure their teacher was unwell.
Sakura Haruno watched him with worry.
"No, I'm fine—that attack was just too terrifying. You can't understand yet."
Kakashi inhaled; a seasoned veteran, he could read the horror in that single slash even through a screen.
Until King Hassan moved, Kakashi had felt nothing—but in that instant.
His Ninja's instinct for danger screamed that his head had already been lopped off.
That was why he was drenched and panting for air.
"We can't understand?" Sasuke frowned, puzzled. They were watching the same video—so why was Kakashi's reaction so extreme?

From within the tide crawled eleven humanoid Lahmu, far more perfect than the ones that had crawled or flown earlier.
