Chapter 13 - CHAPTER THIRTEEN : THE FIRST SHOUT

The mansion was quiet, yet inside, emotions roared like a storm. Loraine had spent days struggling with the weight of Jason's world—the promises she had made, the love that consumed her, and the fear creeping into her heart. She felt restless, suffocated in a way that scared her, and when she tried to voice her feelings, something broke inside Jason.

For the first time, he shouted.

"Loraine!" His voice echoed through the halls, strong, sharp, almost desperate. The sound made her jump, tears pricking her eyes. She had never heard him raise his voice, and the intensity of it cut through her chest.

"I… I'm sorry!" she cried, shaking, overwhelmed. "I didn't mean to—"

He grabbed her hands, holding them tightly, his eyes wild, almost frantic. "Stop crying… please… it hurts me to see you like this!" His voice cracked, raw emotion breaking through his usual calm and control. "Do you understand? Seeing your tears… it kills me, Loraine! I cannot… I cannot bear it!"

Her own tears fell freely, matching his desperation. She had never felt anyone react to her pain with such intensity, and yet… it frightened her as much as it moved her. Jason pulled her into his chest, pressing her tight against him, rocking slightly, whispering brokenly:

"You are mine… my heart… my everything… please, don't cry… not for me…"

She clung to him, trembling, feeling the storm of love, fear, and longing swirl between them. His arms were tight, almost possessive, but tender, and in his desperation, Loraine realized how deeply he truly cared.

The Attempted Escape

The next morning, sunlight spilling through the windows, Loraine woke with restless energy. She felt the first flicker of freedom as she noticed the guards' attention had shifted slightly—they were distracted, leaving gaps she could exploit. Heart pounding, she decided to try her first attempt at escaping, curiosity driving her.

She moved carefully through the corridors, avoiding the guards' gaze, heart thudding in her chest. For the first time, she felt a spark of autonomy, the thrill of being able to maneuver through the house unseen. She reached the massive gates of the mansion, pushing them open quietly, feeling the fresh air brush her face.

But before she could take more than a few steps, a familiar presence pressed against the back of her mind—an almost physical weight. She froze, and then felt it: Jason behind her, silent, his dark eyes fixed on her.

"Loraine," he said softly, a dangerous calm in his tone. "You… you promised me."

Her chest tightened. "I… I was just… I wanted to see beyond the walls… just a walk!" she stammered, voice trembling. Fear and awe mingling as she realized she had no escape.

Jason's hand brushed her hair from her face, his touch soft and yet firm, commanding. Without warning, he pressed his lips to hers in a long, overwhelming kiss, his presence closing in, leaving no space between them.

Before she could fully react, he took her by the hair gently but firmly, guiding her back toward the mansion. Every step was a mixture of desperation and passion, a dangerous, intoxicating combination that made her heart race. He opened the door to their room and pulled her inside, closing it firmly behind them.

"You are mine, Loraine," he murmured, his lips brushing her temple, then her cheek. "Never forget… you are mine. Always."

She sank to the floor, chest heaving, her body trembling from adrenaline, fear, and the lingering intensity of their kiss. Jason knelt beside her, holding her hands, his face close to hers, dark eyes glinting with an emotion she could not name: a mix of love, obsession, and longing.

"You cannot run from this, my love," he said softly, almost pleading. "You belong here… with me… and I cannot bear the thought of losing you, not even for a moment."

Loraine's breath caught. She wanted to argue, to push him away, yet every fiber of her being ached to be close to him. His hands traced her arms, his lips lingered near hers, and the mansion around them seemed to shrink, leaving only the two of them, a world of shadows and light, fear and desire.

The Aftermath

They stayed like that for hours, her head on his chest, feeling the rhythm of his heartbeat, his fingers tracing circles along her arms, back, and shoulders. Loraine could feel her love for him deepen, mixed with fear and awe of the man who could both terrify and cherish her so completely.

She noticed the subtle changes in his demeanor—the way he softened when she cried, the intensity when she tried to leave, the possessive tenderness in every touch. And though part of her wanted to test her freedom again, another part of her, a deeper part, trembled with the realization that her heart belonged entirely to him.

Lingering Questions

Even in the quiet, her mind could not rest:

Why does loving him feel both safe and terrifying?

Is this obsession… love, or something more?

Can I ever truly escape his world, or is my life now bound to his completely?

And… can I survive the intensity of a love that burns this hot, this fierce, and this consuming?

Jason held her close, whispering her name softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face, his eyes dark and glimmering with unspoken desire and desperation. Loraine closed her eyes, heart pounding, caught between fear, longing, and the overwhelming sweetness of being claimed entirely by the man she loved—and feared—in equal measure.
