Season 3 – Chapter 5: Urban Siege – Multi-Gate Madness
The city quaked under the relentless assault of the gates. Crimson energy cracked the sky, spilling monsters in waves that seemed endless. Buildings shook, fires raged, and the streets were rivers of chaos and blood.
Kai moved like a predator through the wreckage, amber eyes scanning, parasite tendrils flicking like living shadows. Sparks danced along his veins as Mechanic Manipulation synchronized perfectly with his parasite fusion. Vehicles, streetlights, cranes, even broken drones obeyed him instinctively. The battlefield was his to command.
"Looks like the Boogeyman decided to show up," a voice called from across the street.
Kai turned. A group of hunters had arrived—some wary, some hostile. Their eyes flicked between him and the monsters, unsure whether he was friend or foe.
"You're late," Kai muttered, his voice low, almost a growl. "But I don't mind. The monsters won't wait."
A young hunter stepped forward, sword glowing with energy. "We don't need your help… but we won't stop you either. Just don't get in our way."
Kai smirked faintly. "I don't get in anyone's way. I'm the predator here. You're just… obstacles."
Before the hunters could respond, a Leviathan Spawn crashed into the street, tail smashing a row of vehicles toward them. Kai's hands sparked. Tendrils shot out, merging with overturned cars and a nearby crane. "Obstacles can become weapons," he said casually.
He manipulated the machines with fluid precision. Cars swung like pendulums, cranes smashed through monsters' chests, and drones fired coordinated volleys. The hunters blinked in awe, unable to fully comprehend the fusion of biological power and mechanical mastery.
One of the hunters shouted, "He's controlling everything!"
Kai grinned. "Everything obeys the predator who knows how to bend it."
Monsters swarmed from multiple gates simultaneously, dozens of Leviathans, smaller winged horrors, and hulking Omega-level beasts. The city became a living maze of destruction. Kai's parasite pulsed, tendrils lashing out, piercing and tearing. Sparks and neon-blue arcs danced across his veins as he integrated more machinery into the battle.
"Watch your left!" one hunter yelled, swinging a blade at a charging beast.
Kai reacted instantly, bending a nearby streetlight, twisting it to strike the creature mid-charge. "Thanks for the tip," he said, voice calm despite the chaos. "Keep talking. It helps me focus."
Each monster defeated fed his parasite, each kill sharpened his reflexes, and each machine under his command amplified his attacks. The streets were littered with broken metal and monster corpses. Mechanic Manipulation had grown again, evolving in synergy with the parasite—he could now control multiple machines simultaneously, merging them into hybrid weapons on the fly.
The hunters hesitated as Kai moved past them, tendrils coiling around twisted cranes and vehicles. "I don't need your approval," he said, voice low and predatory. "I only need results."
From above, gates pulsed, crimson light spilling more monsters into the battlefield. Kai's amber eyes narrowed, veins sparking. "Then let's see what this world really has to offer," he muttered. The predator had fully awakened.
