Chapter 32 - Chapter 31: Hawk’s Solo Raid on Quantico Base

The next day.

Early morning.

After getting dressed, Hawk went to the motel's front desk, took thirty U.S. dollars from his pocket, and handed it over.

"Another day."

"Room key."

"Here."

Hawk handed over the room key.

The motel staff took the key, looked at the room number, registered it, and then handed the key back to Hawk.

Hawk took the key back, thanked them, and then turned and left the motel.

A short while later.

He arrived at the mountain road next to Quantico Base…

Hawk wasn't worried that his morning run would attract the attention of the Base's soldiers.

Because besides him, there were other residents of Quantico Town who were also jogging along this mountain road.

Wearing a baseball cap, Hawk leisurely followed behind the jogging crowd, not attracting any attention.

Soon.

When he reached a turn, Hawk looked at the unaware crowd ahead and the crowd behind him that hadn't caught up yet. Without any hesitation, he instantly accelerated, and with a whoosh, by the time the jogging crowd behind caught up, Hawk had already disappeared.

Only the rustling of leaves in the forest beside the mountain road remained.

By the time Hawk reappeared and returned to the motel, it was already afternoon.

After returning to his room, Hawk sat on the edge of the bed and took a folded piece of paper from his pocket.

The paper unfolded.

Before his eyes,

A simple topographical map of Quantico Military Base's interior had already been drawn.

Barracks.

Office buildings.

Tank depot.

Airfield.

And…

The abandoned laboratory. Hawk spent the morning roughly figuring out his destination, and then spent the afternoon quickly traversing the forest near the Base to find three evacuation routes for himself.

However, he hadn't decided which evacuation route to choose yet.

But that wasn't important.

Having evacuation routes was enough; he could adapt on the fly after the job was done.

Hawk thought to himself, then glanced again at the topographical map on the paper, which he had marked with symbols only he could understand. He then tore the paper in his hand into fragments until even the most professional person couldn't restore it, before finally throwing it into the room's trash can.

Soon.

As the sun set.

At this time, Hawk returned to the motel front desk, returned the room key, and after completing the check-out procedures, walked out of the motel.

This was a motel.

The front desk had seen people check out less than ten minutes after checking in with a female companion.

So the front desk wasn't surprised by Hawk's early check-out.

After leaving the motel, Hawk found a nearby pizza place, ordered a pizza, and sat by the window to eat.

He couldn't go into battle on an empty stomach.

It would be too tragic if he ran out of strength halfway through the fight because he was hungry, or if he was caught while escaping because he was too hungry to run.

Night completely fell.

Hawk, full and satisfied, also moved through the dense forest under the cover of night with a ghost-like speed that could even produce a sonic boom when running at full speed. He quickly arrived in front of the high-voltage protective fence of the Military Base.

Hawk didn't rush in but looked up at the towering Sentinel tower in the Military Base.

On the Sentinel tower, the searchlights, turned on at night, illuminated a predetermined area, slowly scanning automatically.

The moment the searchlight swept over, Hawk pulled down his hood, hiding himself behind a tree.

The baseball cap had been used in the morning while jogging; to be safe, it was not suitable for use again.

But this black hooded jumpsuit could be.

He found it in the trunk before driving the taxi into the river.

Hawk had changed into this outfit after leaving the pizza place.

Soon.

The searchlight left the area of the large tree where Hawk was hidden.

The next second.

Hawk didn't hesitate. The moment he emerged from behind the large tree, his right knee bent slightly, and as the mud beneath his feet凹陷, his entire body, like a roc, silently took flight, flying over the protective fence that ordinary people could never cross, and landed inside the Base.

Once inside the Base, the rest would be easy.

It was nothing more than finding the abandoned laboratory, then digging, and then escaping.

Hawk had already planned it out.

So, after landing in the Base, Hawk proceeded according to his plan, quickly moving through the dark edges of the Base towards the abandoned laboratory he had already scouted.

One minute later.

The abandoned laboratory, surrounded by corrugated iron and guarded by soldiers at its only entrance, instantly came into his sight.

Hawk stood quietly about one kilometer from his destination, using a container casually placed on the Base's lawn as cover, watching the two soldiers in his line of sight.

"Whew!"

"Time to go."

Hawk, with his eyes closed, slowly exhaled a turbid breath, then slowly opened his eyes, looking at his destination in his sight.

The next second.

Boom!

The moment the grass beneath Hawk's feet scattered, with a loud sound like a sonic boom, Hawk himself shot out like a cannonball.

The two people responsible for the security of the abandoned laboratory today were chatting happily.

They both thought today would be another uneventful day.

Until…

Their peripheral vision seemed to catch something, followed by the sonic boom that exploded in their ears.

Thump!

Thump!

The two soldiers didn't even utter a cry of surprise, both rolling their eyes and falling to the ground.

Hawk still didn't kill them; he merely knocked the two soldiers unconscious instantly, then darted into the abandoned laboratory.

The next second.

"Shit!"

"Who is it?"

"…"

After squeezing through the corrugated iron, Hawk looked at the two soldiers in front of the old, seemingly explosion-damaged building and couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

Good heavens.

Is that really necessary?

There were clearly soldiers outside, and they put two more inside?

Was it necessary?

Hawk felt a bit speechless inside.

When he was scouting the terrain during the day, he could only see outside the corrugated iron, not inside.

The two soldiers, looking at Hawk, who appeared before them wearing a hooded jacket and a medical mask, reacted after their initial shock.

The next second.

The two soldiers directly pulled the trigger.

"Enemy attack!"

"Sound the alarm!"

"Beep beep beep!"

Instantly, a sharp alarm, piercing the night's tranquility, echoed over Quantico Military Base.

The moment the two soldiers pulled the trigger, Hawk's figure instantly vanished from his original spot.

When he reappeared the next second, he was already in front of the two soldiers who had attacked him.

The two soldiers outside earlier hadn't pulled the trigger.

They could live.

These two…

Hawk was expressionless, his right hand directly striking the two soldiers in front of him, whose expressions were filled with shock!
