Robert's Point of View
I returned my weapon to its place with a mechanical, cold movement, and stood watching Erik as he writhed on the floor, trying to gather the fragments of his collapsed body from the pain.
He shouted at me while trying to rise with difficulty: "Robert... fuck you!"
Not a single muscle in my face moved; instead, I glanced at him with a look devoid of any pity and said dryly:
"Don't act like a girl, Erik... it's just a bullet."
Erik leaned with his trembling hand on the chair and looked at me with eyes full of reproach and bewilderment:
"Did you really do this for her? Who is this girl who drives you to shoot me?"
I adjusted my shirt collar with an irritating calmness, maintaining my deep, steady voice to hide the storm hitting my chest:
"I did this because you ignored my warning... and not for her."
I raised my voice calling Ron, who entered the office in the blink of an eye as if he had been waiting behind the door.
