Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Sweet Surrender

Reaching into the box, Luca lifted the prosthetic arm.

It was made of an unknown material, surprisingly lightweight, with a surface texture almost indistinguishable from real skin.

Of course, the most important thing was the pale blue semi-transparent panel that popped up as soon as he touched it.

> [Sweet Surrender]

> [Devil May Cry World 1/5]

> Creator: Nicoletta Goldstein

> Core Component: Realistic Prosthetic Arm

> Synthesis Materials: 1 Small Grappling Hook Launcher, 1 Small Hydraulic Transmission Rod, 1 Micro Therapeutic Device, 1 Vibration Motor

> Item Description: A gentle prosthetic arm, also known as the "Kyrie Pleasure Hand." Designed and crafted by Nico specifically for the usually careless Nero, it possesses dexterity surpassing that of a real hand. The material is soft and skin-friendly, with a vibration function to soothe pain.

> Note: Get your mind out of the gutter. This prosthetic arm can genuinely treat injuries.

Luca's eyes twitched as he quickly scanned the description.

Sweet Surrender?? What kind of decent person designs a prosthetic arm with THAT function in mind??

And isn't Devil May Cry supposed to be an action game?!

Having only heard of the series without playing it, Luca clearly couldn't comprehend the game developer's logic.

Considering his current role as a grieving son who had just lost his father, Luca suppressed the urge to roast the item mercilessly. He kept a straight face and expressed his sincere gratitude to Pepper Potts.

"Thank you very much. Actually, my help to Mr. Stark was insignificant. I didn't expect him to remember me."

As he spoke, Luca simply rolled up his sleeve and, in front of everyone, unhesitatingly attached the prosthetic to the stump of his right arm.

Perhaps Tony's AI had scanned his data during their last encounter.

The arm fit him perfectly. Unless one looked closely at the connection point, it was hard to distinguish it from a normal arm at a glance.

The neural interface was also flawlessly designed.

Luca moved his arm and fingers, feeling almost no lag. The range of motion wasn't limited to simple gripping like ordinary prosthetics; it felt natural.

Clearly, Tony Stark had put real effort into making this gift.

However, perhaps considering Luca's age, the prosthetic itself only simulated a normal arm in every aspect.

It had no additional features, and its maximum output was no different from a regular arm.

The focus was entirely on realism and ease of use.

Of course, for a normal person, such a prosthetic was more than enough.

Although Luca would likely synthesize it later, having this arm would make his daily life much more convenient for now.

"Please tell Mr. Stark I appreciate the trouble he went to. I really don't know how to thank him."

Although he hadn't expected Tony Stark to be so thoughtful, Luca didn't mind freeloading off a super-billionaire.

He had no qualms about saying a few words of thanks and some polite platitudes.

Seeing Luca satisfied with Tony's gift, Pepper looked pleased.

Knowing the boy's situation beforehand, she felt that if Tony's gift could temporarily dilute the boy's grief over losing his family, her trip would be worth it.

And seeing the boy in person, so polite and sensible, made her appreciate him even more.

"I will convey your gratitude to Mr. Stark. But don't worry too much about it. Knowing you like the gift is the best news for Tony."

Thinking of Tony, who had been inexplicably anxious and buried in work since the Battle of New York, Pepper sighed inwardly.

Putting aside her worries about Tony for the moment, Pepper took two business cards from her purse and handed them to Luca.

"These are mine and Tony's cards. Tony specifically mentioned that this prosthetic comes with a lifetime warranty from Stark Industries. If it malfunctions or needs repairs, you can contact me anytime to arrange it."

After a thought, Pepper added softly.

"If you need help with anything else, you can also contact me or Tony directly."

This statement drew another round of gasps from the onlookers.

Luca, hearing the sincerity in Pepper's tone, solemnly accepted the two gold-embossed cards.

I didn't expect Tony Stark to go this far after just two encounters.

Aside from his abrasive personality and sharp tongue, the guy really is solid.

Recalling Tony's behavior in the movies, Luca didn't say much more. After expressing his thanks again, he readily pocketed the cards.

Whether he used this favor or not, the fact that Pepper Potts had made this promise in front of so many people carried immense weight.

With the scale of Stark Industries and the social status of Tony and Pepper, even just bluffing with their name would be hugely beneficial for his future development.

After expressing her condolences for Luca's father once more, Pepper excused herself, citing work commitments.

As soon as she left, the guests who had been holding back followed suit.

Some went up to hand her their business cards, while others just wanted to say a few words and show their faces.

In an instant, the funeral venue was empty.

Watching their retreating backs, Luca shook his head with a wry smile.

Relying on someone else's prestige is too flimsy. Ultimately, only my own strength can bring real status.

After everyone had left, Luca looked back at the empty briefcase.

Whether Tony Stark intended it or not, inside wasn't just a simple manual and maintenance guide, but also a separate USB drive.

Attached to the drive was a note labeled "Study Materials," stating that it contained the detailed manufacturing process and schematics for the prosthetic arm.

Tony Stark surely doesn't think I can understand or replicate this black-tech realistic arm, does he?

Although Luca felt his 14-year-old brain was sharp...

And thanks to his father's education and guidance, he had some knowledge of electronics and mechanics...

His current level was, at best, fit for a high school robotics competition.

With the complex technology in this prosthetic, even with the full process, there was no way he could build one by hand.

Plus, the company's R&D department was basically semi-paralyzed without his father, Hermann.

Even if he gave the complete data to the R&D staff, they would likely struggle to replicate it perfectly.

While Luca was pondering this...

On the other side.

Shamila had run into a bit of trouble.
