Chapter 2 - CHAPTER 2

CARMELA'S POV

I woke up to terrible headache. I stood up to get some coffee in the kitchen. I saw a fresh brewed cup of coffee on the kitchen counter immediately I entered with a sticky note attached to it.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate. I hope you enjoy your coffee and your day. It read.

Last night event came crashing down on me. From the bar to the part I let a stranger into my apartment in the middle of the night to lying for a stranger.

The pain in my head increased and I tried relieving it by massaging it with my fingers. Let's not dwell on what happened last night and move forward.

I need to pack my things and leave here as quick as possible before Theo comes back.

I grabbed the cup of coffee and took a sip. I groaned in pleasure. This really feels nice.

After a refreshing cup of coffee. I freshened up and started parking. I already called the moving company earlier. They'll be here any minute soon. I just needed to pack my clothes, makeups and all other personalized items.

As predicted the moving company not long after, right after I sealed the last box containing my books.

I was moving into the penthouse building my grandma gifted me when I moved to Manhattan. I didn't want to move there or accept the gift initially but grandma has a way with words and thank God I did accept it because right now I'm in a tight spot.

******************************

The moving didn't take much time as I expected it to. Now I was settled into the pent house in the middle of boxes. First order of business buy furniture.

ALESSANDRO'S POV

"The arrangement has been finalized. We will be having a dinner with the De Cruz soon. The date hasn't be decided yet" Mom said twirling in my swivel chair.

I wasn't expecting her here early this morning. I just arrived from a shitty business trip, walked in and I met her here. This isn't what I need right now. And I thought she had dropped the bull shit talk about arranged marriage, but I was terribly wrong.

Apparently the arrangement has been finalized, without my consent. De Cruz are very important and wealthy. They might even rival with our family concerning wealth. But still I thought Rossi and De Cruz never mix in business. Apparently Dad and Mr. De Cruz had issues. Why would they agree to a marriage proposal?

"Be prepared you'll be meeting your fiancée soon" Mom said.

"Yes Mother." I replied with a groan.

"Can you leave now I have a lot of work to do" I said.

"Are you driving me away?" She asked with a fake hurt expression. I grinned. Mother, she always finds a way to make you feel guilty.

"No Mother. I'm just telling you that the company needs attending." I said.

"Okay, say no more, I'll be out of your air now. I just came to relay the message." She said, she grabbed her bag from the desk, stood up and walked out.

"Bye Mother." I called after her.

CARMELA'S POV.

"I heard you've finally moved out of that crap of an apartment." I'm not surprised she somehow found out, grandma has eyes everywhere. I was even expecting her call earlier. It's been a week since I moved in.

"Did you also have the courage to move out of that bull of a relationship?" Grandma asked sarcastically.

She never liked Theo. Not because we moved with different crowds, well partially. It majorly had to do with, according to grandma, he was lazy and disrespectful. Lazy, maybe but disrespectful not sure.

Grandma only called him that because he hadn't once reached out to her. Though thinking about it now he had always dismissed the topic anytime I mentioned grandma and my parents.

I remained silent. I never keep quiet. Anytime she insulted our relationship I always clapped back with an insult of my own. But not now, not after figuring out what a douche Theo actually is, he hasn't even once reached out. No calls, no messages. Just silence from his end.

"Wait, mi Tesoro" (My treasure) "You've actually broken up with him?" I mumbled out a yes.

Silence, not a single word.

I pulled the phone from my ear to check if she was still on the line. She still is. Then it came, the laughter. I wasn't expecting her to laugh right in my face. She could do it behind my back because I knew she was happy.

I winced, "Nana, you are laughing at my misery" I whined, pouting.

"Sorry. Sorry. I got carried away. But still I can't wait to tell your siblings. They'll be so happy." Great who needs enemies when you have families like these.

"Ok. In all seriousness, what did he do?" Grandma asked still trying to contain her laugh.

"I caught him cheating with Nyla." I replied in a low voice.

"mi Tesoro. I knew that guy was a piece of shit" Grandma said.

"Nyla?" She gasped.

"Yeah Nyla"

"Oh honey. I'm so sorry" Grandma said sympathetically. I mumbled. Not finding the right words to use to reply.

"mi Tesoro, why don't you come to the United States. We miss you. I miss you" "It's been long since I saw you" She suggested

"Grandma, you saw me last month" I whined.

"It's still too long." She replied.

"I'll think about it." I replied. Should I really go back? Every time Grandma suggested I move to the family estate in United States, I always turned down the offer. This is my first time thinking it through.

"Grandma, I have to go. I'll talk to you later." I said. Grandma mumbled something in Spanish which I didn't quite grab before hanging up the phone.
