"Yes, I did everything as you instructed. I moved her desk to the worst spot and assigned her all the menial tasks. But... she seems happy about it." Grace Sullivan's lips curled in annoyance.
A deep voice rumbled from the other end of the line.
"Yes, don't worry. I will make sure she leaves the palace in tears!"
After working overtime until eight, Ashley Bowen stretched. She was finally finished.
She looked up and saw that Grace Sullivan hadn't left the office either.
She got up and knocked on the door. A voice from inside answered immediately. "Come in."
Ashley Bowen pushed the door open, went inside, and reported, "The data entry is finished. May I leave now?"
"Our Imperial Concubine is clever indeed, finishing the data entry so quickly." Grace Sullivan smiled, her praise dripping with sarcasm.
Ashley Bowen didn't want to chat with her any longer. She just smiled, turned, and left.
Only after leaving the office building did she realize she had nowhere to go.
