Pantheon raised his hand. "Teacher, Chase Hawkins says he wants to go play basketball."
"If his grades were as good as Mortimer Quincy's, I wouldn't just let him play basketball—I'd support him launching a rocket," Gabe Chaucer said, glaring at Chase Hawkins.
The whole class laughed.
Chase Hawkins lowered his head and gritted his teeth. "Forrest, you just wait. See if I don't skin you alive."
Their homeroom teacher's Chinese class was the hardest to get through, especially since it was the first period after lunch when everyone was drowsiest.
Holly Winslow yawned several times. Drinking water twice didn't help, so she held out her hand under the desk. "Pinch me."
Seeing that she could barely keep her eyes open, Mortimer Quincy glanced at Gabe Chaucer writing on the board, then suddenly propped up his Chinese textbook and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.
They sat close together, so it was hard for anyone to see.
