Sunday, around 4:30 PM.
Wyatt Winslow was taking Holly Winslow to school, so Mortimer Quincy went on ahead by himself, all alone.
Holly was wearing a long, light green daisy-print dress with a pair of white canvas shoes. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, making her look youthful and vibrant.
Wyatt glanced at her a few times and, for the first time in ages, offered a compliment. "You look nice."
Hearing the compliment, Holly froze for a moment. When she snapped out of it, she shouldered her backpack, looked at Wyatt, and returned the praise earnestly. "You're handsome too, Dad."
A little flustered by her praise, Wyatt grabbed the car keys and the bag with her clothes. "Got everything?"
Holly nodded.
On Sundays, the school gate was always lined with fruit stands and snack stalls.
Wyatt had several pounds of bananas and apples weighed out for Holly. Just as he was about to pay, he saw Shane Lester arriving for school.
