The first class of the afternoon, which was also the last, was Teacher Chaucer's as usual. The first thirty minutes were for the lesson, and the last ten were for announcements.
He took out the safety notices they had signed earlier, his tone still reasonably pleasant. "Everyone, please sign a new safety notice. Which mischievous male student signed 'Free and Easy Wandering' on their form?"
As he spoke, he showed the form to the entire class and teased, "Studying hard is a good thing, but you need to remember to relax. The school won't be able to find a student named 'Free and Easy Wandering.' If they come asking me for this person, I'll have to come ask you for them, eh?"
Holly Winslow hadn't completely scribbled it out, just drawn a large 'X' over it. She thought it wouldn't be a big deal, but now that Teacher Chaucer had called it out, she guiltily ducked her head like a turtle hiding in its shell.
