Nathan Redgrave's dark, unreadable eyes studied Fiona Keating. After a long moment, he finally spoke: "Last night… we didn't do anything we shouldn't have, did we?"
Although he couldn't clearly remember what happened after getting drunk, he would have known if *that* had happened.
He was only asking to see how Fiona Keating would respond. If she made something up and insisted that something… unspeakable had happened between them, then it would prove this was all a conspiracy she had orchestrated.
Fiona Keating gazed at Nathan Redgrave, her clear eyes wide, her cheeks flushing with shyness. "Nathan, what are you talking about? You were completely passed out last night. I just brought you home."
Fiona Keating's answer took Nathan Redgrave by surprise. 'If this wasn't all premeditated, then why did I pass out after just one drink last night?'
"Nathan, you're such a lightweight. You were out after just one drink. You have no idea how much trouble it was to drag you home."
